Warren to North Warren Bike Trail

Great easy walk

December, 2016 by middlemarlene_tl

My sister and our boys did this trail and it was very nice walking down by the water especially after her long day at work. It was also, an easy walk for my blind Uncle whom we would occasionally bring with us. I loved that it was paved because her boy could use roller blades. It also goes passed an old grave yard. If you haven't walked it yet I would strongly recommend it. Thanks. Marlene

Allegheny River Trail

Overnight stop

November, 2016 by cindy.gerner.5

After visiting out of state we were returning home and decided to stop in Emlenton for the night. The next morning we rode from emlenton to the Kendrell Tunnel. The trail was empty and and conditions were great. It was the first time we rode through tunnels that really required headlights. It was awesome. I plan on going back and riding the other connecting trails

Fall Ride

November, 2016 by vicki1960

Fall ride in November, the day before it snowed! Nice day out and there were others taking advantage of the great weather.
The marina is closed, all the watercraft has been removed.
Restrooms along the trail, some are closed, some remain open year around. They are noted at the restrooms. If one is closed, go to the next one.

Butler-Freeport Community Trail

Nice trail

November, 2016 by alanbaker

I live close to this one so I do it often and really like it. It is narrow at times but normally isn't crazy busy. Last few times been a lot of leaves so little to no mud or puddles. It is slightly uphill from the Freeport end for a pretty long while maybe the first 12 miles or so. It is really unnoticeable until you head back and you gain a few mphs as you are riding.

Butler-Freeport Community Trail

Various trail widths/surfaces

November, 2016 by vicki1960

We parked at the new lot across from Fr. Marinaro Park just outside of downtown Butler. This is at mile marker 19.5
We biked to Sarver, and back.
First few miles out of Butler are an uphill climb, which is good, as it makes the return trip a breeze.
Trail is various widths some only 3' wide to 10' wide. Trail surfaces are loose limestone, packed limestone and dirt. Some sections of the trail were nothing more than a few passable ruts. Photo's posted of various trail surfaces.
Porta johns along the trail only in the Summer.
A nice trail though you will see woods and fields.

Sandy Creek Trail

Two trails, one trailhead

October, 2016 by tedmcgarry

I chose to park at the Belmar Trailhead off Route 8 because it has immediate access to the east-west Sandy Creek Trail (Sandy) at the Belmar Bridge and the Bridge when crossed, intersects with the north-south Allegheny River Trail (Allegheny). This way I could ride in four directions from a single trailhead. Further, the trailhead has houses nearby and appears safe. There is a porta potty here. On the other side of the River, the Sandy and the Allegheny cross at different levels and are connected by stairs.

The Sandy going west to Fisherman's Cove runs higher up the mountain and parallels the Allegheny River but is in the trees. It eventually pulls away from the River. The best section of the Sandy is to the east from the Bridge to Rockland Rd. Within this section the trail follows Sandy Creek which contains five high trestles and one straight tunnel to Rockland Rd. This section is isolated in the beautiful mountains and quiet without houses or roads.

Darkness caught us before we could bike the Allegheny River Trail. That trail is at river level and the Valley view more open which will be our next trip.

We parked at Belmar and biked down (literally) to Fishermans Cove and back up. Then headed out to Van,and back. Trail in good condition. Slight uphill to Van but nice ride downhill back to Belmar!

Redbank Valley Rail Trail

The best yet!

October, 2016 by michellepolohonki

My husband and I rode this trail yesterday, WOW! It was such a great trail, the best we have ridden so far. The scenery was amazing, wide paths, could be ridden by most any bike, including an FX and beautiful wooden bridges as you cross over the river in several locations! (Make sure you bring your camera, so many photo opportunities!) Plenty of places to stop along the way with benches located all along the path. We rode from Brookville south for 15 miles, stopping for a snack to fuel up for our ride back. We can't wait to do this again!

Oil Creek State Park Trail

Best of the Allegheny Trail System trails

We loved everything about this trail. Well maintained,(a tree had fallen across the trail and as we were riding back to our car , the rangers were already on their way to clear it) great scenery, even a rest room mid trail.

Sandy Creek Trail

great trail

September, 2016 by joelkring

Other than having to stop to get our recumbent trikes through the many bollards, we loved this trail. Well maintained, there was a tree across the trail but it looked like it blew down very recently. Lots of other paved trails in the area too.

Allegheny River Trail

great paved trail except !

September, 2016 by joelkring

Lucky for us the information center at Franklin was open. We were told about the land owner near mile 13 that has the trail blocked. Riders have created a detour around the property but it is a very rough ride. Other then that it was a beautiful trail. There was lots of debris south of mile 13, some from a recent storm some from trail maintenance. It was also not clear if the section between Emlenton and Foxburg was open to the public or not.
