Heritage Rail Trail County Park

Great For Kids

August, 2025 by rkoppy

We Loved this trail. We got on at the Brillhart Road Parking lot went down the trail through the Howard tunnel, all the way down to the Hanover Junction. It was pretty much all in the shade. There were sections with very low grade ups and downs but the grade was so low you couldn’t see the hills visually, you just felt the difference in your legs. There was also minimal street crossings and they were all super small back roads with minimal traffic, which was great for my kids.

Enola Low Grade Trail

Superb flat Trail with amazing views of the Susquehanna River

August, 2025 by paulruns7777

This was the second time I visited this trail. But the change in parking location from Quarryville the first time to Red Hill Road in Pequa this time made all the difference. From the that trailhead, you can choose what direction you’d like to enjoy the trail. But I would highly recommend going west towards the Martic Forge Trestle and the beginning of the spectacular views of the Susquehanna to River

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park

cumberland to little orleans

there are some really old bridges that go over the C&O. the highlight is the paw paw tunnel. better to walk through it. once you hit little orleans, i suggest going on the western maryland trail. it is fully paved and nice.

Farmingdale Trail

Not in great shape—mostly

August, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

I’m giving this an extra star because of the eastern extension; the eastern extension is in great shape and fun to ride. However, the western mainline is not in good shape. Many spots had dense stones where I spun my wheels. The main parking lot is closed until November, and there’s a section of trail covered in orange construction material. I suppose it would be a nice walk, but it really wasn’t a great ride.

Lancaster Junction Trail

Small but mighty

Very reminiscent of other longer rail-trails. A little rough in spots.

Hanover Trolley Trail

So excited for the expansion coming.

I love going on this trail when riding my bike to work. It's so nice to ride without cars being beside you. When going out early you can see all kinds of wildlife out.

Capital Area Greenbelt

Kinda rough for a paved trail; will return

August, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

It was kinda rough for a paved trail. The pavement was bumpy in many places. Most of the trail is impressively wide. Be prepared for many on-street sections and crossings, some of which are busy. Wildwood park has restrooms and water. I enjoyed the ride and will be back someday.

Cumberland Valley Rail Trail

My wife and I rode from Newville to Shippensburg today. It was @ a 10 mile ride to the Shippensburg Trailhead. We continued for 2 more blocks on Earl St to King St. On the corner of Earl & King is the King St Diner, good and good prices.

We have ridden this trail a few times & forgot to leave a review. It is amazing, nice curves/ paved well , goes along river, good signage. Won’t be disappointed. We had e-bikes & cruised along.

Mount Airy Rails to Trails

Great but short

July, 2025 by prhelt

The western end is paved and is a nice as any rail trail anywhere. Just short. The eastern end has a boardwalk section and then drops you on a gravel section. The gravel is a little big for my liking. I was on a road bike riding 30s but did fine. This section goes through a cut in the mountain made to get the railroad a level grade.

Lebanon Valley Rail-Trail

Beautiful Trail - Challenging for a Chubby Grandma!

July, 2025 by l.greybill1963

My first time on this trail I rode from 8th Street to Mount Gretna Spur. I am sure experienced in-shape cyclists would find the 4 percent grade (which extends several miles either direction) easy, but I had to put my Schwinn in 1st gear. I need to lose weight, so refuse to get an e-bike! Next time I'll start in Lawn and go to Mt. Gretna and back to complete the trail. Will work on strengthening legs in meantime! A note regarding the Conewago Trail: ballast used on the surface nearly caused me to wreck a few times. Large rocks and ruts - not crushed gravel. Too much time spent watching the trail to avoid falling - it's a shame because the scenery is beautiful. "Gravel Grinders" would love it!

Great trail

Well-maintained and shady. It was very pleasant, even on a warm summer day! This is definitely worth doing.
