Tidioute Riverside RecTrek Trail

nice walking trail

The trail is a nice walk and mostly in the shade. Great for walking but not for biking. There are a lot of tree roots. Great place to walk your dogs.

Allegheny River Trail

Foxburg-Parker section

June, 2026 by vicki1960

The detached Foxburg to Parker section of the trail is approximately 2.5 miles in length. Asphalt paved and flat. This section of the trail is very well shaded. Some root damage to the pavement but not like upstream between Emlenton and Kennerdell. Enjoy some time in Foxburg, a few places to eat, an art gallery and winery. Also be sure to check out the progress of the Fox-Hunt Community Park in Foxburg which will offer parking, restrooms and a kayak launch. The 3-mile trail section between Foxburg and Emlenton is not complete and under development.

Summer 2026 Ride

Always an enjoyable ride along this trail. Most of it's length is well shaded which helps on hot sunny Summer days. This trail never disappoints!

Oil Creek State Park Trail

Well Shaded

June, 2026 by vicki1960

The approx 10 mile paved trail runs through Oil Creek State Park. A few short sections of the trail are beat up and rough but the other 99% of the pavement in good condition. Trail follows Oil Creek. Very well shaded for most of the 10 miles. We saw some bear scat and 2 deer wading in Oil Creek. The road bridge in Petroleum Center near the park office has been closed since 2022 and was due to open in 2026 but now the state is saying 2027 or 2028. Bridge open to pedestrians and cyclists. At the North end of the trail just outside of Titusville is the Queen City Trail which goes into Titusville. It's less than 2 miles in length and paved.

Allegheny River Trail

Franklin, June 2026.

June, 2026 by vicki1960

We parked in Franklin and traveled South for 12.5 miles to North Kent Road. Also known as Sunnyslope. Beautiful day on the trail. There is a detour 3 miles South of Franklin due to trail erosion along the Allegheny River. Stay to the grassy side of the trail.

Allegheny River Trail

Was once great.

The southern half of the trail is virtually unrideable. Tree roots have pushed up the asphalt making the ride jarring to the point of dangerous.
Trail managers: Please, please, please stop paving trails.

Allegheny River Trail

May, 2026

Impromptu exit off I-80 to explore Emlenton, PA & I found myself at the start/end point for the Allegheny River Trail! Very exciting indeed, as this trail has been on my “to bike” list. I am coming out of winter hibernation physically - yes I know it is closer to summer than winter Haahaa! I wasn’t holding myself to a long ride. My brain was all in, but my legs were not. Since I’m by myself, I had to do an out and back. 5.5 miles out and the trail is lovely however, as noted by another reviewer, the roots are coming up through the blacktop. Forcing one to really pay attention to the trails as to not pop a tire or jump a rail like a horse. Looking forward to doing some more on this trail! PS - a town employee gave me directions to their recreation bathrooms so I didn’t have to use a ports potty.

Mahoning Shadow Trail

Nice trail. Many things to see riding along the water. A little confusing whew going thru Punxsutawney but there is signage.

Spring ride along the trail. Trail is asphalt paved and follows the Allegheny River. As is every Spring, water levels very high. Enjoyable ride as always.

Spring 2026 Ride

May, 2026 by vicki1960

Trail is 21 miles in length and crushed limestone. Biked on a section of it, Spring 2026. The section I was on mostly through Farmlands. Parked at Bonniebrook. Saw the new painted mural at Marwood Road trailhead and parking.

John C. Oliver Multi-Purpose Loop Trail

Rode on a cool spring day. Very smooth paved trail with rollercoaster like hills. Very fun enjoyable ride. 22 mi around the lake and back. Will definitely be back when visiting from VA.
