Everything east of south shore park is an active quarry/mine operation that i doubt is accessible to the public.
The trail I found to be a bit of a mixed bag, as you can't really see Lake Huron for large portions of the trail, as it gets obscured by sand dunes or dense woods, it's a bit hilly at times and runs alongside traffic for long sections.
You might want to skip this one unless you're local.
My husband & I biked this trail. It was so lovely to bike by the lake! Loved it!
May 20 on the trail we were plagued by stretches with fallen trees. This was a big problem for us bike packing.
This is a lovely perfect trail. We started at the very beginning of the trail at the beach by the little leagues fields in Rogers City. The trail goes through town by beaches and the harbor, more beaches, through the woods, over small wooden bridges past the beach on U.S. 23, past Heoft State Park and on to 40 mile point lighthouse. You never ride on the highway at any point, the trail is safe, smooth and stunning! A must do trail!stunning!
My husband and I rode this and it was fantastic. So glad the space is claimed along the Lake Huron shoreline for this paved trail. We want a similar trail close to Alpena.
What a nice trail! Peaceful ride to Bolton and back (20 miles) and only saw 2 other riders. Trail is in great shape. The trailhead in Alpena is very nice with picnic tables and very nice restrooms. Looking forward to riding more of the northeastern trail, as well as the north central trail.
This is a lovely trail, well marked and lots of beautiful sites. It starts it a small city park on the south side of town and end at 40 Mile Lighthouse! The trail takes you thru beautiful forests, parks, a small portion of the city, Lake Huron, passing Hoeft State Park, which you can also go into and explore and over some small picturesque bridges. Highly recommend!
This was definitely the most diverse trail we’ve rode! This trail takes you thru a fairground, past a hospital, a junior college, industrial complex, residential areas, cemeteries, rivers, over major roads, parks and over bridges. You travel on a lot of sidewalks… but the worst part was it was poorly marked. This app made riding this trail possible! Lots of stop and goes! We will not do this trail again!
My wife and myself enjoyed this trail so much. Very smooth and well maintained trail.
Best trail we have ridden so far. We'll marked and fairly flat till you reach 40 mile Lighthouse. 7.6 miles from marina downtown to light house.
I didn’t see this trail listed. It connects to the Tawas Trail. It is 6.5 miles long. It parallels US 23 , but does go up and around. There is a bridge and and off path which lead to the water! I think it needs to be added.
