Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

Really fun ride

April, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

Hands-down amazing trail. It’s a nice wooded adventure, especially east of Riverfront Park, and it’s twisty! Not enough to really impede a good ride. I like the twists; they made the trail interesting in ways many rail trails don’t. Highly recommend for riders of all levels.

Hanover Trolley Trail

Amazing so far

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

This trail is outstanding so far. Still a lot of work to be done, but wow.

Enola Low Grade Trail

Kinda boring at times, but great for long rides

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

The trail is incredibly straight, so it can seem boring at times, but that also makes long rides easy since you can just go without having to slow down for roads or anything. Eden and Bart townships have done work on improving their segments, and the whole trail, even where it says “unimproved,” is perfectly rideable until Atglen, where it does deteriorate a bit. Overall great trail.

Ma & Pa Community Greenway

No parking; lots of hill

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

The church parking is not open to the public. I parked on Charles St. That said, the trail is in great shape, and there is a trestle bridge leftover from the railroad viewable from the trail. Just note: it’s a climb!

Broad Street Greenway

Well-maintained and growing

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

This is a great urban trail. Lots of road-crossings, as you can expect being in the city. Note that the parking listed on the map is private; I had to park on Edgar St. I also found an unlisted expansion to the south.

Hollow Creek Greenway

Good short trail

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

It’s a nice little trail. Notice: the only restroom is mid-way at the Water St. cul-de-sac.

Heritage Rail Trail County Park

For as long as I bike, I will ride this trail.

This trail is straight-up amazing. I have nothing else to say.

Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail

Don’t go in January

March, 2025 by tnbpptw5x7

I tried to do this trail in segments in January. The snow melts way slower on the trail than in other unplowed places. I also think the grades in the northern parts are tough.

Capital Area Greenbelt

Not typical Rail Trail

March, 2025 by tim.deardorff

I started at city island and headed up river which is nice- you might have a hard time following at times as you go along the backside of Harrisburg- the path at Farmshow complex is closed due to repairs. I found that having this app or having trail loaded on bike computer is a very big help combined with the green belt signs to reinforce. Seems to be a lot of areas with construction. Some parts of the trail are on streets or crossing streets… so be prepared for traffic… I used bright clothing and my flashing bikes to lights.. this might be a better for walking or running

Muhlenberg Rail Trail

Biker and runner reminder

February, 2025 by znfpkprpdt

I walk here often with my dog. If you’re on a bike coming up behind me, or if you are running and approaching from behind me, I can’t hear you!! Naturally my dog will shy or jump up due to a startle. Please use a bell or call out. Thanks!

Newport and Shermans Valley Railroad Trace (formerely Little Buffalo)

Nice historic Trail

December, 2024 by vicki1960

While in the area, at Little Buffalo State Park, we visited this trail. Trailhead and parking below the dam. There is a covered bridge and old mill there. Trail is flat and goes approx 1 mile. Surface is gravel. Interesting stop to see the historical items. We were there the end of December and the trail was decorated for a Christmas Holiday walking tour. In the state park there are picnic areas and a swimming pool up above the lake.

Cumberland Valley Rail Trail

Peaceful and straight

December, 2024 by terriannjma_tl

It was a foggy damp day. Very light traffic on the trail except in Shippensburg. Very, very well maintained! Some of the gravel is deeper in areas than others, which when wet causes substantial drag on the tires. Total of 26 1/2 miles from end to end as out and back.
