Eastern section of East Central Rail Trail (Osteen)

February, 2017 by youker

I parked at the Post Office in Osteen just off the trail and Rt. 415. I had done much of the western section and the Spring to Spring Trail some years ago. This was a lovely bike ride of about 6 miles round trip back to the bridge. I ran into 2 impressive Sandhill Cranes midway right on the trail. Youker

Missing dog

February, 2017 by hollyvcampbell

One of our dogs were found on the bike trail 2/3/17 chocolate lab/tree Walker. We are still looking for our male pointer he is white with dark spots and dark head. He has a camo collar and tag but I'm hoping even if anyone has seen him they can direct me where to look. His name is Thor. My number is 386-503-4894 please call me; don't comment here because I'll never see it. He is so missed. Please help me find him.

Cross Seminole Trail

good signage with 3 exceptions

January, 2017 by katelose_tl

Two recent retirees in good health parked our car at the Seminole County library and picked up the trail across from the post office. Signs suggesting a violation to park in the post office parking lot. Unlike other reviewers, I found it well marked with 3 exceptions. I think the nicest part of the trail is between Oviedo and Big Tree Park which is about 11 miles each way. Hoping to have lunch on Lake Jessup, we took a little excursion down a dirt trail into Spring Hammock Preserve. Can't access the lake and it was a little buggy (no air movement). Enjoyed a short stroll the boardwalk trail in Big Tree Park. Next time, will stay longer. The rest of the bike trail meanders thorough neighborhoods and is not as interesting. We went as far as Derby Park for a total round trip distance of 39 miles.
Poor markings as follows:
1. The trail breaks at Layer Elementary School and is NOT MARKED. Go left, then right onto 419, one block and right onto Wade, one block and left onto Old Sanford for 3 blocks. At dead end, go right onto dirt trail (about 200 feet) and then you are back onto paved trail. It's not that big a deal, and it would only take 5 small signs to avoid the confusion.

2. I never saw a marking for the trail leg, that I think takes you across Route 4 and onto another trail.

3. There is no marking at the end of the trail, which is why we ended up at Derby Park.

Overall a Great Trail, paved the entire length except for a 200 foot leg. Will do it again. Maybe next time we will try to tie into two other trails in the area.

Great Trail

January, 2017 by hotspotsouth

I ride, run and walk the trail in Edgewater. It is smooth and almost level. The bridge is good for a little cardio. I live very near and the trail will eventually abut my property. I can't wait. Right now I have to load bikes, if I ride, and drive up the road to the trail head.

Cow Creek Rd is not comfortable to ride or run on due to the large trucks from the quarry. So the new survey stakes are a pleasant sign of progress. Hopefully, I will soon be greeting folks from my backyard.

I convinced several of my friends from all over Volusia to meet me at the trail head on weekend mornings, so now we ride together quite often. It continues to be a most pleasurable experience.

The trail is well used, but not crowded. I have made new friends and renewed some old friendships on this trail.

Beautiful scenery!!!

January, 2017 by sandyop715

Started the trail off CR46 on Markham rd. Nice paved and concrete pathway thru a commercial and residential area. Crossroads all had safety signs and traffic controlled crossings. The underground tunnels were clean and very safe. Had a great ride and ended up in Altamonte Springs on hwy 436 near the mall. Great ride!!! Lots of people walking, riding and even skating on trail...

Enjoyable ride!!

January, 2017 by sandyop715

Jan 2nd 2017. Started out from Publix off Providence around 10am. Headed east. Nice paved path with lots of shade. Beautiful, quiet rural setting with small ranch homes and horses. We rode east approx 10 miles and turned around and came back. Lots of bikers and families on the trail.
We really enjoyed it....want to come back and ride the complete trail....GREAT FUN!!!

East Central Regional Rail Trail

Osteen to gemini

December, 2016 by pateh

This was our first experience on a rail trail and we are addicted! The quiet and trees were sublime after 40 years of riding cityscapes. The number of families we saw with training-wheeled bikes tell us this movement has a future.

Spring to Spring Trail

Excellent Trail, paved and wide access

December, 2016 by miss pamsy

Began at Green Springs Park. Parking is limited there, but if you get there early, plenty of spots. The spring is "out of this world" ethereal. We then headed north out of the park, for the 6 miles of paved path. Almost all of it has canopy, and was about 9 feet wide. Very quiet, great beauty.

This path could start at the northern end and ride all the way to Gemini Springs, as noted. We decided to drive to Gemini, because the trail between two parks is on a sidewalk which runs along the road. It is far enough away from road to be very safe, but didn't have two cars, so we drove over. Gemini Springs Park has lots of parking, and other activities. The bike path runs on the outskirts of the park. Good Canopy as well.

Great Day Experience.

Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail

Park on County Road 305 if riding south toward Hastings

November, 2016 by jeraldpross

We parked on a small dead-end section of Old State Road 207, which is right off current SR 207 about 3 miles SW of I 95. Good place to park if you're going to ride back toward St. Augustine (which doesn't go all the way through BTW), but if you're riding SW toward Hastings the first 2 miles run alongside busy 207. Not a very pleasant ride. Much better to park along County Road 305 where the trail crosses it (on the south side). Wide shoulder to park on and no signs posted to the contrary. This not only eliminates that 2-mile stretch but gets you on the right side of 207, avoiding a crossing that even with warning lights is a bit edgy what with 4 lanes of high speed traffic. The trail from here is wide and smooth through woods and rural areas. A pleasant, if not exactly spectacular, ride.

Sanford Riverwalk

What a gem

November, 2016 by debbrown1956

Sure wish I had such a nice walking trail by me! The walk is about 4 miles for the full loop. Nice wide sidewalk that allows for passersbys and faster walkers and runners. Lake Monroe is very pretty and the street way is nice too. Lots of wildlife to see, view the marina, stroll past the kids park, stop in at the museum, stop for coffee or treat yourself to a beer and pizza.

Nice paved trail that's wide and access to restrooms along the way. It's not direct when you cross 436.
