We love this trail! Has some shade, some sun. 46 miles of great riding. Love stopping in Inverness and Floral City. Good restaurants near by just of trail. And close to bike shops. Beautiful parks in Inverness.
I started in between Steffee Landing & Pioneer Village and ran 6 miles (there and back, with a few wiggles down different off shoots). Really well maintained, runs next to creek. A few people out and about near first light. Felt safe. Nice running over wooden bridges and through woods,
The two parts of (the northern section of) this trail could not be more different. From Eagles Nest Park to Millenia is along busy roads, crossing streets, poorly paved, unmarked, and unmaintained. But then starting at Artegon, over to Sand Lake Rd and finally to the current end at Destination Pkwy, is absolutely beautiful. Quiet, serene, and meticulously well kept, with signage and trail markers a plenty. I hope Orlando or Orange County will consider improving the first half of this section as they also advance plans to create the next phase of the trail, connecting it to its other part in Kissimmee.
From Barna east to the end at Kathy Trail is a very nice trail! It's plenty wide, well used and surprisingly not flat. The entire trail goes through nicely sized natural area.
The much shorter portion of the trail through Wuesthoff Park is nice and does include some exercise stations. The very final section of that short trail going west is clearly not used as much.
While down here visiting family I've enjoyed the trail a few times because it's so nice and very convenient to ride my grocery getter over to the nearby Publix for provisions.
Not really sure why the lack is signage on this trail has not yet been improved. Has the county not read the reviews mentioning signage issues? It’s not like it hasn’t been a issue very long. The trail is nice. I rode from the Minneola Trailhead to the Winter Garden Station today. There were no maps of the trail that I could find at Minneola. When heading to West Orange you come to what is sort of a fork in the trail at Hancock Road. There is signage at the intersection but no arrows or plain direction to West Orange. I first took a right on Hancock and followed that trail which clearly wasn’t correct because it takes you to the very busy area in of Highway 50. I back tracked to the fork in the road then went left. Correct way. Still poor signage. Please Orange County fix this issue.
I usually park off of markham roads road but honestly the trailer is really nice and a lot of nature. I really appreciate how smooth the asphalt is, no bumps or anything besides sometimes leaves (as to be expected). Pretty solid trail though, I’m trying to find more like it.
It was such a beautiful ride but I couldn’t follow the bike path with street crossings and all. I wish I had an app that could serve as a guide…I loved the trail so I’ll do it again.
The trail is closed during the the work day Monday through Friday, at the South trailhead entrance. This would have been good information to know. Prior to riding my bicycle 7 miles to that trailhead, and just have to turn around.
While traveling, my wife and I were Pleased to enjoy this entire trail. It features a shared space between a nature preserve and residential area. Trail head also includes a visitor center that was an enjoyable stop as well, learning about the environmental and cultural history of the area. The most exciting aspect was to learn that we were biking along a watershed that is the start of the Everglades.
