We enjoyed it. Rode 1/2 way and then stopped and went back. Parked at the end point circle. Total 11 miles round trip at mid point. Our 5 year old son was getting tired. Otherwise for adults could have gone the whole way and back!
This is a great trail to feel isolated in South Florida. I barely saw any humans on my 30-mile round trip to Manatee Bay. I would recommend taking a look at the map because some comments are saying to take the "west side" of the canal. But there are 2 trail heads. So if you go down one or the other, the rule is the opposite. Just use the maps, and you will be good! Saw a few gators and one manatee. Its a shame that the point where you get to Manatee Bay is completely littered with garbage. This trail is rocky so not recommended for street bikes. I have a fat tire bike and it was pretty fun.
Nice trail, well maintained. It’s just so short, not worth unless you happen to be close.
Long stretches of paved trail along side of the canal. Very enjoyable and a cool way to see parts of Miami-Dade you wouldn’t normally see. Time it out for a lunch at Black Point Marina. Head back and you can do Larry And Penny Thompson Park too
This route runs along the busy Coral Way and dangerously close to traffic at some points, especially when trying to pass a pole or fire hydrant. I suppose this is a good bike commuter route if you happen to live in the area and need to get to FIU I had more fun riding around on the Fairgrounds property where this trail starts
The old M-Path is closed since a few year, instead there will be a new trail called "The Underline. Right now only a tiny bit is open to ride. Still a lot of construction. But at the end it will be nice. I would have pics.
This trail is short but it gets you down to Old Cutler where you can roam for miles either north or south. So if you're starting from Pinecrest or South Miami its a good place to get going.
First time riders on this trail should be advised that not all of the trail is ridable so you will be required to use the bike lane on the road part of the time. Several sections of the trail are showing its age with large cracks and humps from tree roots. Multiple trail bridges are closed because of storm damage.
This is my 4th trip from Homestead to Key West and I found it better to use the bike lane instead of the trail.
Despite the above problems, the ocean views still make the ride enjoyable.
It's great for inline skating. The track is interrupted by roads, but this is fine.
I usually take a walk with my kids and my dog . It is public park. But it makes me uncomfortable always seeing people smoking marihuana . People feels uncomfortable. And this is every day. I have never seen the police to stop this. Maybe is not illegal. This is in the entrance across Sierra Park and going to the Canal. I prefer going to another place. I don’t feel safe
