D&H Rail Trail

Wonderful trail for biking!

March, 2026 by marsh12

I’ve ridden mostly the most improved section between Uniondale and Simpson. Trail there is in absolutely perfect condition, with a smooth packed cinder surface that is the best I’ve ever ridden. If you want to be able to relax, view the scenery without worrying about the trail surface, this is the easiest section. If you want something a little more challenging, ride the section north of Uniondale. Heading north from Uniondale is improved, but it is bumpier and you need to pay attention a little bit more. North of Ararat looks rougher but great if you like more of a challenge. This trail offers something for everyone. I love it. I can’t wait to get back there this Spring.

Lake Galena Hike & Bike Trail

A Beautiful Trail ...

February, 2026 by robertino

The trail is actually park path and is not a rail trail. So, there are plenty of twists and curves that make for a fun and interesting ride. Only the pathway on the dam is a straightaway, and the view from it will stop you in your tracks.

The path is generally smooth: it was re-paved 2 years ago. I say "generally" because, inexplicably, they left a half-mile that remains pitted and worn out.

You'll see a lot of wildlife on this trail -- deer, geese, foxes (two and four legged), seagulls, squirrels, chipmunks, all species of birds, free-ranging children -- and, of course, the lake is beautiful and is almost always in sight. There are lots of benches and picnic tables right along the path. It's all absolutely breathtaking.

But -- and this is a big but! 😯 -- DO NOT ride this path on a weekend when the weather is nice. Half of Doylestown will be on it strolling, walking their dogs, meandering, lollygagging, rollerblading, yakking, eating, making love on and sitting in this path -- and, as a cyclist, it's frustrating and not even close to being enjoyable at such times.

The best time -- the only time! -- to ride this trail is on weekdays before 5pm. If, however, you're a cold cruiser or a rain rider, the path will be all yours any day of the week! Enjoy!

Seriously a fun and beautiful toe path trail that puts you in the middle of the Delaware River and the canal..stop in quaint villages ( ie: New Hope, Lambertville) for a bit to eat or stay the night

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

D & L rail/canal trail

December, 2025 by toddengland

I just rode a portion of the trail from West Trenton to 2 miles north of Stockton. The path was a packed gravel path wide enough to drive a car down. The grade is very minimal the section I rode on. There are great views of the Delaware river the entire way. I would suggest browsing around the town of Lambertville. There are many quaint shops and restaurants to visit.

Joseph M. McDade Recreational Trail

Addition to very picturesque trail

The trail from Milford start point is on k for a few miles but turns to a rocky narrow trail not suitable for a bike , Start at Conashaugh trail head there is only 1 area where you have to walk down 1 set of stairs and go up another otherwise it get great .I wanted to add although I was able have a good ride on my mountain bike I would not recommend the use of any road bike .

Joseph M. McDade Recreational Trail

Very picturesque good trail .

This is a good trail & I would have enjoyed more if it were warmer and I did not ride in gale force winds. Bikers do yourself a favor from Milford grab a bite or drink as you have no food or drink areas until the end unless you ride when Dingmans campsite is open , you may get something there . Proceed 209 S to Conashaugh trail head unload and go south from there you will have about 18 miles to the end.

Sussex Branch Trail

Great For Fall Foliage

The trail is well maintained. Mostly passable with gravel bike except a small portion around Andover. The section around Andover is also hard to navigate.

Columbia Trail

¿¿ NJ RtoT. GEM of a trail !

Riding popular trails in each state Metro, New York area and NE. This trail was above expectation. Well maintained mix of packed gravel to packed stones. All wide capable of handling traffic and any type of biking running and some equestrian.. surprising mix of landscape from River Gorge to large animal farms. Lots to see highly recommended. Road from Bartley Road to Hoffman’s. Entry point Long Valley, Apple parking and food available quaint town.

D&H Rail Trail

Great trail, with some room for improvement

October, 2025 by ibew241

My wife & I ride from the north end to just south of Steven’s Point. From Steven’s Point south we experienced rough trail conditions including trail-wide mud puddles and ballast stone, nothing like the stone dust conditions to the north. There were still a lot of downed trees along the path from earlier storm damage. Consider becoming a member of the Rail-Trail Council of North East Pennsylvania. They could use your financial help so the trail conditions I mentioned above can be completed. We will definitely be back to rude more of the D&H.

Sullivan O&W Rail Trail

roots and railroad ties

October, 2025 by bettysaar

We decided to start across from the winery, and end our trip there. We went one way and hit roots and railroad ties immediately. We turned around and got the same. Needless to say, the winery was great. Would be a perfect hiking trail. It was beautiful.
