Parking scam

February, 2017 by adka

At the trailhead there is a warning sign that you run the risk of having your car towed, This will happen even if you park on the side of the road. If your tires touch the crushed stone you are taking a great risk. Avoid parking at the trailhead or the trail itself; it is not that great anyway.

Exeter Scenic River Trail

Pleasant surprise!

December, 2016 by cfessett

I'd grown up in Gibraltar (1970's) and still live in the area. I'd never known about this trail until a friend had recently told me about it.

Took my first ride on it this past Friday. Made it as far as the Rt. 422 overpass, but ran out of daylight. Was a very pleasant cruise. Trail is well maintained (I'm the leader of the French Creek State Park trail maintenance crew). I'm really looking forward to this trail being connected to the SRT and Neversink Mt. trails.

I'm interested in the pre-history of this trail. Does anyone know if this trail was formerly a road or railroad bed? I've noticed the abutments for a bridge that used to cross over to Old River Road on the Gibraltar side of the river. The abutments indicate that the bridge went over the present trail, so that makes me wonder if the trail was formerly a rail bed. Perhaps it was the original rail bed of the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad (precursor of the Reading RR)

Sorry for the long-winded "review", but I'm not sure how else to communicate with others about my questions. If there's a better forum for me to have these discussions, then please direct me to it. Thanks!

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

I've ridden this trail many times with various starting points.....

December, 2016 by rssle

I've ridden this trail many times with various starting points (and guests); my favorite being the parking lot adjacent to the DE River at Washington Crossing State Park on the NJ side. We'll ride N. from there to Lambertville (~7 mi) and either through the quaint side streets of the village, or a little further N. on the trail (up to 6.5 mi to Bull Is. for heartier riding partners) before heading back the same way (depending upon who I'm riding with) for about a 15 (28) mile total ride on a flat, scenic trail. I like starting there because there is ample parking with a rest room and we can ride the paved River Drive through historic Titusville, a small village that sits on a bluff overlooking a picturesque stretch of the Delaware R, before jumping onto the fine gravel of the canal trail. Enjoy!

November, 2016 by randy101

Lovely Stroll in Wyomissing

November, 2016 by cynthiaswankvb

Pennypack Trail

too much broken glass

October, 2016 by lhamilt

This was my first time out on a PA trail other than the schuylkill in center city which is terribly congested. This trail was fairly empty barring a couple folks strolling and some dog walkers. I was able to easily connect but the wooded area was filled with way too much broken glass for my liking. I was anxious about blowing out a tire (my first ride in awhile). So I just looped near the river without issue. Would try to give the trail a go again in the spring/summer mo this.

Susquehanna Warrior Trail

Autumn splendor

October, 2016 by cindy.gerner.5

it was difficult to find the north parking area so we drove until we found what we thought looked like a secure area at Shickshinny community park. This is close to the 4 mile marker. We rode north and despite the grassy areas the trail is flat and the surface is compact enough to ride my hybrid bicycle on it. We did locate the north parking area near the end on the trail. The TrailLink said 10.8 miles it's actually 12. On our way back we encountered a group of hunters. 2 adults 2 chuildren. Firearms are prohibited but we still offered a friendly hello and the one adult was rude to us. When we arrived at our vehicle there are houses surrounding the park. A local yelled something rude at us there too. Locals didn't seem friendly but as we were loading our bicycles another cyclist passed and I asked him if he could answer a few questions. It seems the trail continued north but he told me it didn't. He also said it was wise to park in the main parking areas because there were known break in's around the area. The parking area close to Berwick looked really nice. Even though two of the locals were rude the other cyclist was very friendly and informative. I would still recommend this trail and would even return. Hopefully the next time the locals will be friendlier
