This bike trail provides a wonderful way to explore the quaint coastal life of Navarre Beach. I parked at the Navarre Beach Marine Park on the 1st clear day after Hurricane Ida. Sand had blown across the trail in some places but I was pleasantly surprised to see a crew blowing the sand off the trail (well maintained).
Lovely scenery. Intimate view of coastal community. Locals friendly to bikers. Fun, breezy, delightful ride with easy access to beach and Sound.
Except for a few improved bridges the trail is still in same poor condition as described on the previous reviews. In addition, as of yesterday there was a road closure and detour just as you start to get into Fairhope. The detour takes you onto a skinny sidewalk along a busy road. We chose to turn around at that point and return to our vehicle parked at a gas station in Daphne. We would recommend 1) reading all these reviews first and 2) using public transportation to return to Daphne if you DO manage to get to Fairhope. Fairhope is a lovely destination but this trail is not for a casual cyclist on a cruiser. We have very good bikes and lots of experience and found it to be just plain dangerous.
We enjoyed this trail so much. Smooth enough for our 4 year old to keep up easily.
Branyon Backcountry Trails are several connected trails through a variety of scenery from coastal dunes to hardwood forest. Rode 28 miles on wide asphalt trails, all in excellent condition.
This trail which goes west from Route 59 in Gulf Shores Alabama is a nice approximately 5 mile long trail heading out towards Fort Morgan They have done some work to the trail and it’s a lot better than it was this past fall. We are here in March 2021 and enjoyed the ride immensely. The problem is it stops only about 25% of the way out to Fort Morgan and riding on the road the rest of the way to the tip of the peninsula would be difficult because of the traffic out there. I wish they would continue that trail further west.
We did all 6 of the trails north of orange beach up along the hill side connecting to the state park. Absolutely amazing scenery, perfectly groomed wonderful asphalt trail very wide. A nice look out area, a few little side trails which are not paved if you like. Just unbelievably perfect for biking or walking or jogging!
Fantastic place to see some eagles and alligators! Clean smooth trail very nice patrons.
This was a fun simple trail that went in multiple directions. They all led to different beach access. It was very quite and peaceful and not challenging in the sense of elevation. So a great time for anyone :)
Lovely trails. This is just part of a series of biking/walking trails in Gulf State Park. Not all the trails are listed on this website yet (they all connect). We stayed at the Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton Hotel, which was directly across the street from the trails so we started at the hotel. Trails were paved but also crossed several wooden bridges. There was also a motor home park within the complex which looked like a good option too. I liked the variety of the trails, some in woods, some in sun. I would definitely recommend these trails.
We started this trail at the trailside Visitors Center, Visitors has parking for about 8 cars and has a Bathroom inside. This is a Rail trail, very limited car crossings , the trail is about 12 foot wide and is well taken care of. Its ends a Whiting Field Naval Station. It has a good amount of shade trees along the way. Take your time and enjoy this one.
We thoroughly enjoyed Catman Road trail. The the trail is very well maintained and is an easy ride
This is a very short trail, some of which is really a sidewalk and some is an unprotected bike lane. However, we took the Dauphin Island Ferry from Ft. Morgan to the island, parking at Ft. Morgan and walking on the Ferry with our bikes. It is $5 round trip to walk on and the ride on the Ferry was beautiful with bird watching (pelicans, herons, sea gulls). The island was not crowded (we went on a warm day in February). This is a fun way to spend a day and we ended up riding 14 miles.
