Cape Haze Pioneer Trail

May 2020

May, 2020 by jagnell55

Very nice trail but crossings need lights. Rode 22 miles all the way to the Gasparilla Causeway paid the $3 per bike and turned around. Its beautiful but Gasparilla is next on the list. I will bring the bikes to the Island and then we ride from there. Just waiting for the Bars to open so the watering hole is satisfied for both of Us. I should have parked closer to do both rides in one. Stay tuned for the second half.

Great biking trail for beginners like myself! Scenic, mostly flat, and even a couple bridges and beautiful water sights!

Cape Haze Pioneer Trail

Nice trail to ride

Did the entire trail today by bike. Nice flat trail with shady areas here and there. I saw a black rat snake and a pair of Bobwhite Quail. Many birds.

Boca Grande Bike Path

Don't miss this trail

March, 2020 by tadams61

My wife and I rode this trail this morning. We started at the North end, visited both light houses, then rode back from where we started. My speedometer showed 19.5 miles for the round trip so it was a bit longer than we expected but well worth the trip. We had ridden the Cape Haze Pioneer Trail last week and were going to ride it again but with the amount of time we spent at the two light houses and the fact that we had ridden that trail just last week, we decided to skip riding it again. We didn't climb the tall light house but we did spend quite a bit of time in the museum at the other light house. Well worth spending time there.

Cape Haze Pioneer Trail

good for running too

February, 2020 by mtzmail1

I ran about half of the trail for the first time last weekend. There were a few bikers and some walkers with dogs. Path is paved asphalt, pretty well maintained and wide enough so there’s no problem for all the different traffic. Path crosses several roads, but well marked and east crossings. Brush is cut well back from path minimum of 6-10 feet on each side. Very nice.

John Yarbrough Linear Park Trail

Nice Trail in Ft. Myers

February, 2020 by droffatsx3

Nice trail that feels fairly secluded while still near congested areas. Numerous covered picnic tables on path. A good bit of wildlife along the way, plus trail goes right by an airport if you're into airplanes.

There are small parking lots on both sides of Daniels Pkwy at the trail.

Negative- No restrooms. It would be nice if the controlling authority could at least add a portable or two along the trail.

It's always a must when visiting Gasparilla Island to log some miles on this trail.

Legacy Trail (FL)

Really Really Nice Trail

February, 2020 by jstasey

Busy during a weekday afternoon cuz it’s a great trail. Smooth. Extremely well signed including maximum speed 15 mph. A few road crossings. A few bridges that go over busy roads. Covered benches. Everyone was courteous: bikers, runners, skaters. Would ride it frequently if we lived close.

Pine Island Bike Path

Off the Concrete, Even Better! ¿¿

January, 2020 by aybceo

Is this a somewhat boring concrete path: yes, agreed! However, if you have a cruiser bike, mountain bike, or any fat tire bike, try leaving the Stringfellow Road bike path, for the quiet, green unpaved side roads that run east and west generally.

Punta Gorda Harborwalk

great walk

December, 2019 by gram06

We parked at Fisherman’s Village walked to the 41 bridge. Lots of bikers and walkers and dogs but the path is wide enough for all of us. We will go back. We went out to eat downtown and then had ice cream at the other end. Next time we will park over there and walk the other way. More parking. Highly recommend.

Venetian Waterway Park

Love it!

I live on the Venetian Waterway Trail. This is a really nice trail. I've seen Eagles, Dolphins, Manatee, Tortoise and lots of birds. Caspearson beach is at the south end. This trail also connects to the legacy trail that goes from Shamrock park in Venice to Palmer ranch in Sarasota 25 miles round trip.

Pine Island Bike Path

great ride

Not a lot of shade so I wouldn’t recommend in mid summer but during winter is perfect. We really enjoyed it. We did entire length ended up a bit over 28 miles down and back
