¿ Mike Levine Lakelands Trail Review

August, 2025 by wirgau456

I went for an amazing bike ride on the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail on August 8th, 2025, starting early in the morning. I parked at the Village Trailhead since the far east end was under construction for a new roundabout. Once I was set up and ready to go, I headed west and rode almost all the way to Pinckney.

The trail is absolutely beautiful — smooth, peaceful, and full of variety. One of the best parts is how it weaves between so many lakes, giving you gorgeous views on either side as you ride. The scenery was incredible that morning, with blue skies and scattered clouds creating a perfect backdrop for the ride.

I can’t wait to come back and explore further west on my next trip. Whether you’re a casual rider or looking to put in some miles, this trail offers a perfect mix of nature, calm, and beauty. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Peaceful Trail Well Maintained

The trail was amazing. It was very well kept and clean with restrooms available. Most of the trail was fully wooded and all of the trail was hard surface . Highly recommend this trail!!!

Kalamazoo River Valley Trail

A great trail

A great ride on this beautiful trail. It’s a little tricky in Kalamazoo proper but other than that it’s very scenic, peaceful and well-maintained.

Mislabelled Map

Just an FYI that there is no parking at 84th Street and Patterson. The parking icon on the map is erroneous.

Nice trail if Jackson

Nice, flat trail. Some parts are under construction/repair. But most is still rideable.

Kalamazoo River Valley Trail

mixed review

Parked at the Galesburg Augusta Primary school ¿ Meander from school to the trail ¿ Country like setting transitioned to a road-hugging trail¿ Riding alongside car traffic ¿ The trail was pretty smooth and the wildflowers were in bloom.

Iron Horse River Trail

Great Year-Round Trail

July, 2025 by motter.kb

I enjoy walking and riding my bike on both the paved and unpaved portions of the trail. Great river views with Deer, Fox, Turkey and Eagle among other wildlife. The Williams County Veterans Memorial is a very short distance from the east entrance to the trail on the fairgrounds and well worth the extra ride.

End to End beautiful trail and ride

June, 2025 by vicki1960

Traveled from Pennsylvania to ride this trail since we found out about it on TrailLink. We stayed at a local hotel. Trail is paved the entire length from Goshen to Shipshewana. A local told me they just finished paving the last crushed stone section. Trail goes through a few small towns which offers services. We ate lunch in Middlebury. Shipshewana offers many great shops and restaurants. This is in an Amish community. Small hill at mile 2.5. Most of the scenery is flat and open through farms but there are a few wooded sections of the trail as well. Worth driving 5 hours to get to and making it a getaway. Trail was busy for a Saturday but not crowded. Friendly folks along the way. We were lucky to have such great weather too!

Portage Creek Bicentennial Trail

Good Trail

June, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

A good that's slightly marred by a brief urban stint, you'll thankfully spend most of your time in a nature setting with this route.

Mostly flat, you'll get both sun & shade with this trail, though sights are few.

You can also use this trail to link up with multiple other trails in Portage, including Millennium Trail, Lovers Lane Bikeway, Romence Road Bikeway, Shaver Road Bikeway, and Northwest Portage Bikeway.

Rieke Park Trail

Short but Ok

June, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

There's nothing to see except some sports fields, a pond, and crops, and with a short round trip, I might skip it if you're not local.

St. Joseph River Greenway

Ok

June, 2025 by clonetrooper5373

There's lots of shade on this one, with statues lining the entrance to the trail and the Joseph River is always in sight.

The trail itself has a lot tight twists and turns early on before straightening out and the pavement is pretty rough, with bumps and cracks throughout.

I would only recommend this one to locals, and maybe only walk it.

Wilden Avenue Trail

Skip

This one should be avoided, as with frequent road crossings and nothing to see, you are going to spend almost all of your time in a urban, neighborhood setting.
