William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park

24' Tall Tin Man

August, 2026 by kriekkoff_tl

The 8-foot-wide asphalt trail surface was in excellent condition. The trail was meticulously maintained and provided a good canopy of shade. The village of New Era was a good place for a rest stop. Don't miss the "Metal Man with Arrow" along the trail just northwest of the Country Dairy Store. The real treasure was the 24' Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz on the shore of Hart Lake about 1/2 mile north of the trail's endpoint. Be aware that there are limited restaurant options in Hart and even less on weekends.

Fred Meijer Flat River Trail

great trail!!!!

This trail is beautiful. If we do it again, I think we would start at Baldwin Park and ride over to Tower Park. There’s a lot of sun on the west side of the trail. It’s also great that it connects to the Heartland trail so you can take that to Flat River Brewing. They have great beer, flat bread pizzas and meatloaf sandwiches.

THIS TRAIL IS 99% GRAVEL

July, 2026 by liamvara1

Don’t be fooled by the photos of the path, IT IS PRETTY MUCH ALL GRAVEL. I went with a friend on this trail expecting maybe a small gravel segment and mostly paved, however it was definitely not. It’s a pretty trail, but not what was advertised. If you’re into gravel riding, you’d love it, but it’s intense. Pretty good scenery, but should be advertised as gravel.

Plaster Creek Trail

Iffy

July, 2026 by clonetrooper5373

The trail is narrow and tight all throughout, and one section is eroding away into a nearby stream, so you might want to avoid this one.

Fred Meijer Berry Junction Trail

Good

July, 2026 by clonetrooper5373

The low elevation will provide a good workout for those looking for it, and this is a pretty decent trail.

White Lake Pathway

Nice but with Flaws

July, 2026 by clonetrooper5373

This is a pretty decent & enjoyable trail, with the only drawback being the regular road crossings.

Medbery Bike Trail

Nice

July, 2026 by clonetrooper5373

It's a nice trail but it's so short that it might be more enjoyable if you walk it.

Van Buren Trail Spur

Short but Nice

July, 2026 by clonetrooper5373

It's a short but nice trail. Nothing really to see/do.

White Lake Pathway

Poorly maintained

June, 2026 by j.cassette

From North Muskegon to Hart the White Lake Pathway is the only portion of the trail that lacks proper maintenance. All other municipalities mow the sides of the trail except the city of Whitehall.

Thankfully you are able to track your location through the app would definitely have gotten lost without the app a little Savior... a good majority of the trail was nice and smooth and definitely some narrow aspects but all in all what a fun trip

¿Had a great ride here! Don't let the tangled layout of the trail system fool you; the mix of paved paths and gravel sections keeps the route interesting. Highly recommend it if you enjoy a versatile and unique ride.
