The Columbia Trail is well maintained, clearly marked, very shady, with a slight uphill grade starting in High Bridge. We rode with hybrid bikes with absolutely no problem. There are a few rough patches near Long Valley but these are few, very short and easily traversed. The trail is very scenic and we definitely do it again. Great for kids even with the crossings which are not busy.
Loved the ride. Ride alongside a quiet street with older homes. Opportunity to grab something to eat or drink at the station, main St., Or brewery all right on the path. Please be careful of low hanging branches if riding.
Completed this on Sunday 5/15, it was a great flat ride, simple woodsy scenery (saw a golden eagle, a blue bunting,a lizard and some Turtles) not a packed trail, saw about 12 or so others so you’re not completely all alone but also not dodging people every 10 feet, NO shade so wear and reapply lots of sunscreen, also- consider bug spray- I ended my down and back ride with two ticks and multiple mosquito bites. Would ride again but not in the height of summer.
This is the trail I've ridden most often, as it is only a few minutes from my house. It's a great little trail, and my kids love stopping at the beautiful Warwick Twp park that the trail goes through. I'd like to give it 5 stars, because I'm sure many people work hard to maintain it. However, there are long stretches of the spring and summer that the Warwick half of the trail is simply not usable due to the overpowering odor of the liquid fertilizer that the local farmers use on the many fields lining the trail. I've lived in Lancaster County for nearly 20 years - I'm fine with the standard cow poo smell, but the liquid stuff is unbearable and it gets in your clothes, hair, and skin. It also draws so many flies and other bugs that you feel like you're being pelted with sleet as you ride. I have to mask up and wear goggles to keep them out of my eyes and mouth. It's a real bummer, but I suppose that's just the reality of the location. Not sure there's a way to remedy it.
Very nice bike path and it connects to Blueberry Hill trails which consist of another 4-6 trails for biking or hiking. Takes you to the top where you are over looking a quarry. Beautiful view. The main bike paths are paved and they have plenty of off road paths for mountain biking as well
This trail is mostly straight with a few curves and inclines. Perfect for riding a bike or roller skating on.
Well paved and well maintained with a lot to see on the ride.
The gravel surface is so deep it is hard to ride. The trail is otherwise just OK. Not much to see. With a proper surface it would be 4 stars.
Recently I rode on the canal path from canal Park in Allentown to Freemansburg PA. Numerous homeless encampments along the trail. Four young ladies running and people with families riding bikes on the trail it is super scary something should be done . The homeless encampments have tripled within one year
There is a newly opened nicely done parking lot at the Chesapeake City trail head one block up from Schaefers Restaurant.
Nice fully blackedtoped trail, two hills, but the rest very flat.
under power lines, along fast cars on 422, not worth the time.
Plenty of trails in the areas through actual nature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We biked from Easton to Bristol and this part of the trail is terrible with washouts, rough spots and places where bridges are out. We biked it because was awarded trail of year in PA. We've been on many other trails in PA that far exceed this trail.
