What happen

August, 2018 by dannyg748

Been riding this trail for over 15 years and it's been a very good place to ride until about a month ago(06/2018 when everything change. The weeds along the trail haven't been cut,the trail has weeds growing in the cracks, the trash cans are always full of trash, and the bathrooms are a mess,no toilet paper, trash on the floors, toilets plugup. The bridge near the Polk City trailhead has been under construction for over a month.Maybe they should bring back Ross.He got the job done.

Flatwoods Park Trail

Great trail when its not rain season

July, 2018 by tpaglock

Great road & mtb trails, very easy and fast.. Only down fall is any kind of rain will end the ride.. trails flood very easy even the road loop.
Trails hold water for a long time, you can count on any kind of rain closing the trails for a couple of weeks.

Flatwoods Park Trail

Rode this for the first time today. Byclists were freindly/respectful of one another. Wild life to see and water stops were good. A $2.00 fee was fine if it helps with upkeep. Put this on your list to ride!

Fun Commuter Trail

July, 2018 by heochief

We rode this trail from Clearwater to Tampa. A great trail that hugs the water way (perhaps the international coastal way) The trail offers wonderful scenery of the waterway and the related wildlife as well as the city skylines. There is a bridge that is quite the incline however there was no issue climbing it. Great views from the top of the bridge that has lookouts on each side. The trail is well maintained and is asphalt. This is like the Chicago Lake Front Trail but in my opinion better. Less wind. For sure a commuter trail. After the bridge incline the trail is flat. There is a great display of Pelicans catching their daily meals too. Great trail.

Lator Gator

WOW I can not say enough about this trail. We rode all 29 miles of it from end point to end point for 60 miles total. The trail is totally flat. No incline at all. The trail wisp through marsh lands, Wooded land, Pasture fields and small towns at each end point trail head. There is plenty of shaded areas however the areas in the sun can get quite hot for long stretches. Lots of water is required for this ride. Along the way we say 6 10 to 12 foot alligators one 4 footer and numerous baby's about 1 to 2 feet long. We saw them from one of the many swamp overpasses. We saw none on the path or near it. The ones we saw were close to us but below us. We saw numerous turtles, pelicans, cows, panther, numerous style birds. The trail is about a 50 minute drive from Clearwater and we did that in rush hour. There were nominal places to eat or water fountains in comparison to typical trails. The trail is maintained well. There are sheltered areas to cool off about every 5 miles. The trail was also pretty well traveled the day we were on it. Still it was a pleasant ride. This is a great trail and I rank it 5 stars. I have traveled across the country on great trails. This is in my top five. Just be prepared for the unexpected and bring water. Limited food too.

HELPFUL INFO!!! Wonderful Trail.

May, 2018 by paulkostakis

Great Trail. Very smooth asphalt path. 90% of the trail is in the sun. Farm animals visible from trail. It connects to the Suncoast Parkway Trail at Gunn Highway and Suncoast Toll Road. Address for parking lot is: 7020 Lutz Lake Fern Rd. The parking lot is practically right across from Seed World. Parking cost 2 dollars for all day, card or cash accepted. Full trail length is actually about 5 miles from one end to the other. Water is provided along the way but due to thirsty people be sure to bring water with you. I hope you enjoy yourselves!!! ¿¿

Suncoast Trail

With the wife

April, 2018 by cyclemaggot

First time on this trail with my wife. Generally run 30-40 miles at a time on our Bents. Parked at the northern end which has a $3.00 self pay station. Seemed pretty safe with the highway traffic going by, more of a chance people will see and report incidents? Started out hilly and not much to view paralleling the highway, very hot so we turned around after five miles. No water stops up to that point or at trail head. A composting toilet would be a great thought for the trail head. (had to drive 5 miles to a grocery store for facilities) Decided to follow the trail from the highway and survey the sites. State Road 50 trail head had a great restroom facility but parking lot was secluded which made me nervous to park my vehicle there. The trail followed the highway the majority of the distance with what looked like little to no shade for most of the way. I would recommend this trail to those that are training for races but not for the casual biking trip. Definitely carry water on this trail and spare tube for emergency purposes. There are other trails that are more family/casual rider friendly.

One of the best paved trails

April, 2018 by tonygrasso

Been on many paved trails from PA to FL. This rates as one of the best. Great scenery and solitude, wildlife everywhere! There are stretches where you will see no other cyclists for miles, especially early in the morning. Make sure to bring a tire repair kit.

Great day on alligator alley

March, 2018 by dongrant18

We started at the Mabel end because we wanted to get water at Green Pond and Polk City. There is no water at Mabel. Lots of shade, lots of animals on the trail. We were surprised that the trail outside of the State Park were just as good for viewing.

We saw lots of gators especially from the three bridges 2.5 miles north of Green Pond. We saw at least 5 gopher tortoises, a pileated woodpecker, vultures and deer along the way. Trail is in great shape but bring enough food for the whole day. Well worth the trip.

Pleasant Ride!!

March, 2018 by crowculbertson

I rode this trail today (3/19/2018) and it is so pleasant. I stopped in Brooksville and had an expresso and muffin at Mountaineer Coffee. What a nice downtown square. Parked at the train depot museum with great bathroom facilities. The trail runs further than the map reflects today. The trail runs all the way east on Richbarn Road to the Croom WMA. I hear that this trail will be a part of the east west connector. So very pleased with the ride. I will watch for the extension into Croom WMA and return. After the ride I drove down to Dade City for good country cooking at Steph's Southern Soul Restaurant.

Good for getting to ballgames

March, 2018 by will.s.smith

The trail which is wide and in good shape leads directly past Spectrum Field where the Threshers play and in March you can catch Phillies spring training games. Also very convenient for commutes to St. Pete College. The path is broken up by frequent cross streets with adequate signage and a signal at Gulf to Bay, but riding some portions at night would not be advised due to poor or little lighting. More suited for casual rides, walking or skating.
