I started my ride on State Road 100 just west of Palatka Regional Airport. Very nice well maintained trail. My intentions were to make it to Keystone Heights. Unfortunately, after two knee replacements I found I was not ready to make the complete round trip. While I enjoyed the trail very much, a restroom would have been really nice to see.
Loved riding this trail. It is more scenic in my opinion than the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail. And takes you through nice downtown palatka.
Like most other reviews of this trail, I agree its just too noisy being right next to traffic and too many crosswalks. It starts out nice and wooded but doesn't last near long enough before the first crosswalk intersects. Just too much going on with this trail.
The main trail is cool, but I especially like the many different wooded trail options at the beginning. They’re a lot more fun and rustic, plus they’re all shaded. Beautiful views, they give estimates on how long most of the trails are which are accurate. I noticed there are benches spaced throughout, and arrows marking the many different trail paths.
You ever have one of those days when you are out exercising and everything is going really good. The weather is perfect, your spirits are high, you feel really good and your bike is running smooth and fast. April 26, 2020 was one of those days for me. It was a great ride. I picked up the trail just west of the Palatka Regional Airport. This trail is nice and smooth and has very little traffic. I highly recommend.
Great trail with nice rest areas along the trail.
I like the hut with the fan along the trail, much of the trail is exposed to the sun, but I love how it goes over the St Johns River and allows you to look for manatees. Saw a cottonmouth on the trail!
Nice escape from being stuck inside
We rode the entire trail and enjoyed the variety of northern Florida scenery--forest, farmland, and swamp. Some sections parallel the highway but are separate from it with only a couple of well marked highway crossings. Our only question is -- where are all the people?? There were so few riders out on this pretty Sunday afternoon. Not complaining. Just saying.
Excellent trail. Many things to do other than the main body trail which offers many options for multiple trips.
Not a bad trail for an easy run
I was recently in the Jacksonville area and rode the trail. Trail is very nice from baldwin to the end. Well maintained and nice scenery
