MetroParks Bikeway

cracks cracks cracks

The crack in the trail were taxing. They are ever 20-30 feet for most of the trail. It honestly kind of ruined the experience. Otherwise it’s a nice trail.

Panhandle Trail

PA trail is 5 stars-WV trail 1

May, 2020 by cyburgh

Rode the trail May 2020 & would ride the entire trail that’s in PA again. The WV part of the trail is so rocky and bumpy and has so much broken glass on it I’ll never ride there again.

John C. Oliver Multi-Purpose Loop Trail

Mid May Ride

May, 2020 by vicki1960

Always and enjoyable and great workout of a ride. 12 mile asphalt paved trail provides a beautiful view of Lake Wilhelm as the trail encircles the lake. Gently rolling terrain offers the rider a great leg workout!
The Marina is open for bait and at least one restroom in the park is open, the one at the marina.
Beautiful State Park offers fishing, hiking, boating up to 9.9 hp and picnic areas.

Memorial Day hike of the Shenango Trail 5/25/2020

May, 2020 by joseph_torok

Hiked 8 miles on the Shenango Trail; Big Bend to New Hamburg and back. Total of 13 fellow hikers, 3 bikers, and 2 horse riders. Great day for a hike but very warm in late afternoon. Trail was recently brush cut at both ends and was very dry; no recent heavy rain. Bikers/horses utilized the swinging bridge bypass just north of Big Bend; well appreciated!

Panhandle Trail

warning.

May, 2020 by jlhendricks1965

We ride multiple times per week between Oakdale and Burgettstown. This morning we decided to do the short ride between Oakdale and Rennerdell and then head to McDonald. By the time we got to Greggs Station both my husband and I had flat tires with multiple holes in them. Something has to be either in the trail parking lot (we normally park across the street at the brewery) or somewhere on the trail.

Shenango Trail

End of May Hike

May, 2020 by vicki1960

Parked in New Hamburg and headed South. We went approx 3 miles and turned around only because we were on a time schedule. The trail is very well maintained by the Shenango River Watchers. It's very green and full in there with beautiful purple and yellow wildflowers. Quite a few pedestrian bridges we crossed. Each bridge now has a number. Great trail!

Panhandle Trail

Great ride

May, 2020 by bksmith45713

Washington County portion is in excellent condition!!! Allegheny portion is not paved with a few bumps. Still good trail to ride. I highly recommend riding.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

Great trail

May, 2020 by wjlarkin

Paved, smooth, wide with just enough elevation change to get the heart going! Started at Lisbon trail head, so most of the elevation change is front loaded in the first 6 miles-allowing you to cruise backwhile coasting if you wish. Wildflowers were out. So very pretty first 4 miles. Spent some tome cruising the little town of washingtonville, so ended up 28 mile round trip. Pretty crowded from people wscaping Covid quarantine, but no masks for these patriots.downhill the last

Armstrong Trail

Warning for those passing thru Kittaning!

May, 2020 by dendro71

I try to get to this trail a couple times a year, and today was the day. I always look forward to going thru Kittaning and seeing the historic county building and old train station, and always snap a few pictures on the way thru. I was happy to see someone was making a go of a business in the train station, which looked like a little flea market, with tagged merchandise sitting outside. I was prepared to check it out and parked my bike next to the trail. I took a couple photos from the grassy area by the trail before grabbing my mask and going in. Before I had a chance, an angry lady ran out of the store and told me I wasn't allowed to be there and get back on the trail and wasn't allowed to take photos. She made a threatening gesture towards me like she was going to grab my phone. I told her I was planning to check out her business, but not any more! I also informed her I'd been taking photos of this historic building for years and never bothered a soul, always stayed near the trail, and that many others using the trail have done the same, and it was unfortunate she didn't respect and appreciate being in a historic building, and I left and told her to have a lovely day. I would think a business owner would be thrilled to be on the trail and welcoming to trail users, but apparently that's not the case. So be warned when passing by the station! No photos allowed! How unfortunate for such a beautiful landmark. The junk she has sitting outside doesn't help much, either. To top it off, I got yelled at several times by folks using the trail in Kittaning when I asked them to yield and be careful with their children so they don't get hit...and I ride very cautiously when there's a lot of folks on the trail. So next time, I'm starting north of Kittaning....how unfortunate, as this could be a great trail town.

Stavich Bicycle Trail

Great workout trail!

May, 2020 by vicki1960

This trail is far from flat! Most sections are flat but there are a few with some gradual hills which make it a challenging workout. Parked in New Castle and pedaled to Lowellville OH and back for a nice 16 mile ride.
Well maintained since the PA surface was repaved within the past few years. However still bumpy on the OH section.
