Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

My hometown trail

May, 2022 by jamesbauer27

This is the trail I've ridden most often, as it is only a few minutes from my house. It's a great little trail, and my kids love stopping at the beautiful Warwick Twp park that the trail goes through. I'd like to give it 5 stars, because I'm sure many people work hard to maintain it. However, there are long stretches of the spring and summer that the Warwick half of the trail is simply not usable due to the overpowering odor of the liquid fertilizer that the local farmers use on the many fields lining the trail. I've lived in Lancaster County for nearly 20 years - I'm fine with the standard cow poo smell, but the liquid stuff is unbearable and it gets in your clothes, hair, and skin. It also draws so many flies and other bugs that you feel like you're being pelted with sleet as you ride. I have to mask up and wear goggles to keep them out of my eyes and mouth. It's a real bummer, but I suppose that's just the reality of the location. Not sure there's a way to remedy it.

Lebanon Valley Rail-Trail

Gorgeous and well-maintained

May, 2022 by jamesbauer27

Today was my first time riding this beautiful trail, and it's already one of my favorites in the area. I started at the Lancaster/Lebanon county line where it connects with the Conewago Recreation Trail (also quite nice), rode to the end in downtown Lebanon, then rode back (15-ish miles each way). It's mostly fine packed gravel with some paved sections. I was on a hardtail mountain bike, but a gravel bike or any bike with appropriate tires could handle it easily. There's lots of shade, numerous benches, a few parking areas, a couple porta-johns, and a water refill station along the way. I'm no expert but I found it to be quite doable; it's a pretty gentle grade with no steep climbs. Just be aware that in both directions the trail trends upwards for several miles until you get to Mt. Gretna.

United States Avenue Trail

connects to Blueberry Hill trails

Very nice bike path and it connects to Blueberry Hill trails which consist of another 4-6 trails for biking or hiking. Takes you to the top where you are over looking a quarry. Beautiful view. The main bike paths are paved and they have plenty of off road paths for mountain biking as well

Pennsy Trail (PA)

great small trail

This trail is mostly straight with a few curves and inclines. Perfect for riding a bike or roller skating on.

Ironton Rail-Trail

Well paved and well maintained with a lot to see on the ride.

Nor-Bath Trail

The gravel surface is so deep it is hard to ride. The trail is otherwise just OK. Not much to see. With a proper surface it would be 4 stars.

Recently I rode on the canal path from canal Park in Allentown to Freemansburg PA. Numerous homeless encampments along the trail. Four young ladies running and people with families riding bikes on the trail it is super scary something should be done . The homeless encampments have tripled within one year

New trail head parking lot in Chesapeake City

April, 2022 by timothyhickman_tl

There is a newly opened nicely done parking lot at the Chesapeake City trail head one block up from Schaefers Restaurant.
Nice fully blackedtoped trail, two hills, but the rest very flat.

Limerick Trail

Loud and not worth the time

under power lines, along fast cars on 422, not worth the time.
Plenty of trails in the areas through actual nature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D&L Trail

We biked from Easton to Bristol and this part of the trail is terrible with washouts, rough spots and places where bridges are out. We biked it because was awarded trail of year in PA. We've been on many other trails in PA that far exceed this trail.

Lake Galena Hike & Bike Trail

Lake Galena trail at Peace Valley Park

April, 2022 by rbetts62756

Very nice trail. It is better now that they completed the trail around the lake. You no longer have to hop on Creek Rd to complete loop. Northwest corner of trail has steep 8% grade, if you go counter clockwise around the trail. Great hike, bike trail with paving all round with plenty of parking. East side of lake is much quieter with less pavilions. Views are tremendous!
