Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

Loop Trails

February, 2020 by slipsoup

This is my third time on the D&R. There are several loop trails that can be done by crossing from NJ to PA and back. This was my first time doing a loop. It was a 19-mile ride. We rode from Old Frenchtown Field in Frenchtown, NJ. There is a fairly large parking lot adjacent to the trail. We rode to Bull's Island and crossed the pedestrian bridge over to PA. The PA side is more scenic and is called the Delaware Canal State Park. There are a couple of locks right after you cross over. Both sides of the trail flank the Delaware River for most of the ride. At the covered bridge in Uhlerstown, PA, it's a short ride to the car bridge, which takes you back to Frenchtown. There are restaurants and stores easily accessible from the trail here. I recommend either a hybrid or mountain bike, as the surface is gravel (NJ side) and a mixture of dirt and gravel (PA side).

202 Parkway Trail

Just so you know

January, 2020 by robertino

Great path, all asphalt, smooth and no roots, and pretty high speed on the down slopes. Be careful, though, and keep very alert when you have to cross the several big and busy streets. Riding toward Doylestown (going west to east) is easier than heading away from Doylestown.

Plenty of low grade hills so it's good for a workout.

Elephant Swamp Trail

Respect private land

January, 2020 by eeakee

The entire length of this trail has private lands along both sides of it, so please respect private property and do not venture off the trail. Due to the increase of foot traffic on Elephant Swamp, private land owners are having a problem with increased trespassing from the trail users.

Power Line Trail (PA)

All around great run. Watch traffic!!

January, 2020 by alvarocsanchez896

This has quickly become my go-to long run spot on a Saturday or Sunday. There’s so much to love about it, about a 10 mile run that is not crowded like the Schuykill river trail can get. I just want to caution folks: you will cross a few busy roads and you must be absolutely sure traffic has stopped for you. I have almost been hit by a car once, and it before I hit mile 1/9. That’s the only downside of this trail, car traffic.

Lebanon Valley Rail-Trail

we stopped to eat ...

December, 2019 by joelkring

While I often write reviews of trails, I seldom include reviews of places to eat along the trails. The Lebanon Valley Rail Trail is my go to trail, its a modest 40 minute drive, but if I ride the whole trail and include the 3 mile loop through South Hills Park and the 5 mile Conewago trail the entire ride is over 50 miles. When we are out for that long of a ride we like to stop to get something to eat. In the summer months we stop at the Jigger Shop in Mount Gretna but they are closed in the winter so I was looking for other places to eat. I prefer to dine at local eateries rather than big chain places, just a personal preference. Thanks to the TrailLink site I was able to spot a new place just off the trail near the Lebanon Expo Center, Ancestor Coffeehouse and Creperie. I am told by my fellow riders that they have great coffee and I can attest to their delicious crepes. They are open 7 days a week but the hours vary slightly. As they are off the trail about a half a mile I thought that I would include directions. From Lebanon head south to just past mile marker 13, go another 0.3 miles and take the paved trail to the right, at the bottom of the short hill turn hard right and follow the trail to the road. Go left on Springfield then left on Blackford, the restaurant will be on your right in a small strip mall. From Cornwall head north and pass the Lebanon Expo Center, at the end of the short paved section make a HARD left onto a paved trail then follow the directions above. One last note, I do not work at the creperie, nor do I know any of their employees. I just happen to stop by and liked the food and service.

Kinkora Rail Trail

Good Trail

This trail is nice, and i’m glad that i live close to it. It hurt my feet a few times, but is is nice for hiking and biking. It does not go in a full loop at the time though so keep that in mind. 9/10

Cooper River Park

Getting better for biking.

November, 2019 by gtbest

North Park Drive now has painted bike lanes on the road and they are working well. There is good separation between bikers, parked cars, walkers and joggers.

Great walking Trail however has unleashed dogs

November, 2019 by jkeith59

I enjoy taking my dog for walks on this trail, however the last 2 times I have come across walkers who do not have their dog on a leash. This is showing disrespect for other walkers, and high risk for other dog walkers that could lead into a dog fight from the unleashed dog. It would be nice to have signs posted along the trail, to keep your dog leashed at all times. As a dog owner, keeping your dog leashed at all times is showing respect, and it's a shame that some dog owners cannot abide by common laws.

Peace Valley Park Hike & Bike Trail

A Favorite

Very scenic, paved trail. If you go during the weekday not as crowded. My gps had the mileage as 6 not 4 as in trail description.
