Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail

Amazing Nature Experience

November, 2020 by damon.carr

What a joy to find this trail - it's close enough to my home I can bike to it. Getting out into nature does something to calm the mind.

Escondido Creek Bike Path

Not as bad as other reviews made it out to be, maybe things have changed over the years

October, 2020 by rjohnson14

I didn't see any homeless on the trail and it looks like it's fairly cleaned up (we saw Escondido employees cleaning on the way). It's not an amazing scenery but it wasn't sketchy in any section. It wasn't very busy. It ends near the Humane Society and Daly Ranch. Signs say it closes at dusk.

It was a great day. I took today, Thursday off to ride and this trail was on my list. I had the place to myself and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Oso Creek Trail

great find

Great for a quick or long walks. Also love how green and clean the space is. Our kids loved riding their scooters since it’s all paved.

Bayshore Bikeway

Awesome Ride for a Little Distance

August, 2020 by t.antoinette.hintz

This route came recommended to me by a friend. I decided to explore it for its full potential and I was not disappointed! Very scenic, mostly flat and all around therapeutic. There are a few short segments where there is no set path, but there’s minimal traffic. ***Rider Beware: there is minimal shade so make sure to go early or lather up with the sunscreen!

San Juan Creek Trail

Great Trail

June, 2020 by anialmog

This trail is great. The first three miles are gorgeous, surrounded by orange trees, the mountains, and the equestrian center. The smell is not the most pleasant for the first half mile, but still bearable. The last three miles are okay - the San Juan Creek is not pretty by any means, but it is neat to follow the downtown San Juan Capistrano area for a little bit. I wish the signage was better when crossing La Novia Street. Signage was also a tad confusing and I actually merged into the Trabuco Creek Trail before realizing and turning around and crossing the bridge. .

San Clemente Beach Trail

Trail Interrupted

May, 2020 by lauralglynn

Unfortunately this winter a landslide forced the closure of this trail, starting at the North side, about 3/4 of a mile in. There’s no way around it unless the tide is ultra low - then go around on the sand. The city officials have no opening projected as the must involve geologists, etc to repair the slide. Sad day for this lovely trail. You can pick the trail back up via street at Mariposa or Linda Lane and continue South.

Santa Gertrudis Creek Trail

Friday Afternoon Ride

May, 2020 by raqueln

Quick and easy ride with my husband and 12 year old son. Got windy going back to where we parked but it was an overall great bike ride on a Friday afternoon.

San Diego Creek Trail

Relatively flat and plenty of room on the road for passing. I calculated just under 11 miles from end to end. Beautiful trail.

Dana Point Headlands Trail

Low-key with beautiful views

February, 2020 by chapmanjennifer

It's a little hard to find the entry from the Strand Vista parking lot, but we figured it out thanks to a helpful dog walker. For the part actually on the headlands, expect a gentle slope down to the tip and a gentle slope back up, mostly packed dirt or sand with areas of loose sand. Perfect for young children. Grandparents who are steady on loose sand will be fine too. Bring binoculars to look at the boats on the water. The nature center is interesting and well done for a small nature center.
