It's a beautiful ride, however the lack of trail etiquette is something to behold. Everyone is on their own planet and never heed any announced warnings. I almost hit or ran over three dogs and two people due to no situational awareness or didn't know their right from their left. Again, beautiful ride but frustrating.
Started our ride at the north end trailhead and rode south to the causeway. Nice surface, straight, mostly flat trail. Great views of the canals and waterways. 16 miles, great ride.
Easygoing, well traveled trail through beach cities with easy access to barrier Island causeways. Plenty of places to grab a meal near the trail. We tried and enjoyed Salty, Lime Cantina. Causeways provide stunning views of the harbor and were a highlight when we left the trail.
We had a lovely afternoon biking this trail. It's flat except for the handful of times you go over a bridge to cross a busy road. We saw several gopher tortoises along the way, zero alligators so that was good. We rented our bikes from Legacy Bike rental which is adjacent to the trail. We were able to leave our car there which was nice.
Don't get run over by all the nasty gulf carts flying by...
Really pretty trail with great views and not too many inclines. Good workout but also super scenic and a great length. Highly recommend!
And the construction closure zones are quite large, IMO. Best stay off this trail in 2025 if you are biking and want to ride uninterrupted for more than 3 miles. 2 star rating as is, but I've done 15 miles o/b on this trail in the past rather enjoyed it.
What a beautiful day on this part of the trail... well maintained, some many places to stop, site seeing, Sponge Docks, Monkey Farm, Shopping, Restaurants and libations.
Parked at the Shamrock Nature Center. The waterway park trail south of the water meets the south end of the legacy trail. Ride north to Osprey Point trailhead, about half of the Legacy Trail. Trail is an excellent ride, very popular
It is a dream ride, all paved, scenic views from beginning to end. Stop off at Whiskey Joe’s for dinner or cocktails. Sandy beaches to sit on - easily make a day of this one trail and not wear yourself out.
We started at the Pinellas Trail North, the beginning point, and rode 10 miles out to John Chestnut Park. The first 2.5 miles runs alongside a preserve so quiet, scenic & very family friendly. The rest of the ride was along the highway so continual road noise although every major intersection had a button for the crosswalks, the trail is well paved & wide. There was no signage for parking at the trail head or restroom facilities. Signage to guide you to Tarpon Springs is also very limited.
