Did the path for the first time today and it’s a good workout (a little over ten miles round trip) with nice varying scenery — the Intercoastal, beach, golf courses, condos, etc. Going south there is a path thats pretty wide and comfortably accommodates pedestrians and cyclists; going back north just a regular bike lane. Parking across from Red Reef in the metered lot is a cheaper option.
Nice. Quiet, clean and safe. I parked on the south end per the instructions and it was about 5.6 miles each way.
Too many intersections, you ride a mile then need too cross abustle intersection. Construction caused us to stop and restart in another area. Disappointing
Road 23 miles today, path is narrow and intersections are busy but doable. It was a beautiful December day.
I would say very few people have been on this trail as much as I have. It is my favorite running trail. I would use it for slow, casual biking but there are good bike paths in the shoulder of A1A if you’re trying to generate some speed. From Spanish River Blvd to Palmetto Rd and back is about a 5 mile run. Depending on your fitness, there’s a good wide path from the Deerfield Beach border all the way to Atlantic Blvd in Delray Beach.
I have just returned home after completing the 106 miles from Key Largo to Key West. After reading some of the reviews here I was a bit concerned with making this trip. While I agree that there are a number of surfaces you ride along the way that include sidewalks, trails, and roads, I found all quite manageable and safe. There is debris in spots especially on bridges but nothing more than I find riding my local roads. If you haven’t ridden on busy roads prior this probably is not the trip for you. We woke up early and crossed the Seven Mile Bridge around 7 am on a Friday and traffic wasn’t too bad. There is a big enough shoulder that you can maneuver around debris and still be safe. In the end The trail exceeded my expectations and I look forward to doing this trip again in January.
It was great riding this trail in family. At the end you can find a Publix or a Plaza, and take a break there. Then go back. We park at the point where the App says. We started in the morning, so we lunch subs from Publix at the end of the trail. We saw many iguanas, turtles, ducks, birds, and many others animals. You can take a break any time you want under the trees. Maybe this is not a trail for super riders, but it is nice for a family ride.
Did the entire trail this past Saturday (10/17) and it all went pretty well. Didn’t see much wildlife unfortunately. However do wear long pants and sleeves as the horse fly’s were all over us. Made for some frustration.
This trail has been extended and is now about 15 miles but you'll find me on the first 5 miles of Krome Path. The northern/first 1/3 of the trail is by far the best, (this section gets 5 stars) as you go south theres more and more driveways with rumble strips and street crossings. After a rain storm, lots of sand, gravel and debris can be on the path making it difficult for road bikes or skateboarders like myself. Overall, this is one of the safest places to ride in South Florida and its a great place for serious training. But, it's 30 mins from my apartment and can get quite boring at times.
Basically this is a big sidewalk with views to condominiums. Few views of the ocean. Very little nature.
