Some inclines, then whee down hill ! But the 93 degree temp was too much. Nice shade along the way but just oppressive heat. Didn’t quite make it to Withlacoochee State Trail but maybe in the fall.
A beautiful course and opportunity to learn some history while enjoying the great sights along the Gulf and intercoastal waters.
This is a fun and long trail. Plenty of great scenery and Trail is in good shape.
I was excited to checkout this trail on a a Saturday morning. I parked my car in the lot at mile marker 0 and rode to Floral city and back. Honestly, maybe wilderness rides are not for me. There’s almost a complete lack of water, restrooms and any places to stop off to get something to eat or drink. I was expecting some amazing views riding along the Withlacoochee none. Maybe the northern half of the trail has more to offer, but I definitely will not be going back again starting at mile marker 0
PLEASE MORE trash can containers ¿¿¿¿ Let’s keep it out of the waterways, trail itself and natural ecosystems ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
May 5. Really nice trail easy passing because it's wide . We plan another ride because it is long 40 some miles. We rode the first 10miles coming from the south. Kind of boring but like I said the trail is mint. Clearwater is next and closer to the water. The
My first time on it and liking it much so far. Will complete our next time around for sure!
My sister in law and I decided to go for a walk on this trail. Not knowing where to expect we were very pleasant surprised. The pathway is pretty shaded and certainly wide enough to do social distancing. There is an abundance of beautiful flora and even some fauna- an armadillo walked out in front of us, spotted a beautiful red cardinal, a large red tail hawk and quite an abundance of butterflies. Some people walking, some biking but definitely not overly populated. One feels as if they’re “out in the country” while being right in town. Would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a shorter walk
Definitely can use more trash cans (garbage throughout), a bit of maintenance (small sink holes here and there, signaling)
Beautiful ride! Bring lots of water, especially if bringing the kids, as for the most part the trail is unshaded and one bottle of water will definitely not suffice.
I live right near this trail and so happy it opened. It has a nice paved, smooth surface and the views are great. It connects the Starkey Trail to the Pinellas trail, so you have access to 100 miles of pure trails.
I very recently found this trail & fell in love. It’s a perfect shot to Vinoy park, where it’s absolutely beautiful.
