Trail is great once you get to it. Nice ride from Palm Harbor! Shaded, lots of trees and nature. Rode to the North end and stopped at all the parks and nature trails. Flat smooth ride.
I used live in TotW and loved being so close to ReamWilson. Moved to Spring Hill 3 years ago and riding trails are far a few between
Since this trail had such high reviews my wife and I drove over from Orlando to give it a try. The first 5 miles or so were nice but then, after crossing Ehrilch Rd (heading north), it got a bit "sketchy" as the trail passed through some less than desirable neighborhoods. The entire trail was well maintained but this last section was not very appealing from an aesthetic point of view and my wife told me that she would not feel safe if I were not with her.
Did 11 miles great experience love this park.
and not a drop to drink... for 10 miles
Very good bike path. Good distance with a great incline over a bridge to make the ride challenging and interesting. A good 21 mile round tripe workout.
The entire trail is terrific but if you only want to do part of it, I suggest the bottom half. The other day we drove to Floral City Park and accessed the trail about a quarter mile down the road to the east. We began riding south on mostly uninterrupted and canopied trail. Along Istachatta Rd with beautiful fields and ranches. We connected with the Good Neighbor Trail at about mile 10 from the terminus and rode southwest. It’s a newer straight trail to Brooksville. We saw two other riders and nothing but trees. Turned around at the end and returned to Floral City. A beautiful 40 mile ride.
Being relatively new to Florida, I sought out a home near good/safe cycling. I was hoping for secluded roads, but found the Suncoast Trail instead. The SCT was a major reason I purchased a home were i did. A bad day on the SCT is better than a good day on the road! You can ride for miles and miles without the fear of cars. There are some major intersection crossings but if you obey the lights and use common sense safety, you'll be fine. Bring plenty of water. There are some convenient stores along the route, but you'll need to venture off the trail for a half mile or so.
I love the newly completed Starkey Gap Trail. It opens up a whole new world of trails from north of 54 to the south. Speaking of, 54: A bridge over that road is imperative. It is such a dangerous crossing. I am confused as to why the crossing is west of Starkey Blvd because it forces you to navigate the dangerous intersection twice.
I can't wait for the Countryside Blvd to Enterprise Rd trail to be completed! I have a back problem and the crooked sidewalks around my neighborhood just kills my back, I have started taking the trail from Enterprise road to Sunset Point road. All together it is about 6 miles round trip. The trail is beautifully constructed and the bridge over Rt 19 is nothing short of amazing. Well done Duke Energy. The portion of the trail that goes past Top-of-the-World golf course is just a wonderful view. I can't golf right now, but seeing everyone out there enjoying themselves gives me hope. The handicap parking and access at the Sunset Point road location is very well done. I have no idea how many people get to use it, but it couldn't be any more well done. I think it is a real tribute to Duke Energy for participating with Pinellas County to bring this community asset to our area. God bless everyone who is involved in these projects.
Great views and just the right amount of challenge!!!
