Wonderful ride safe and easy

February, 2021 by jasperpjm

Me and a friend started from the Imerson Rd trailhead and rode West. Parking lot w capacity of over 50 cars was almost full. But as we rode 2 miles onto the trail traffic disappeared. It’s paved, well maintained, very slight inclines and of course straight. We got stuck at the rr crossing just west of the 301 underpass so after 10 minutes we turned around . We were very satisfied with a 24 mile ride; stopping for lunch at the picnic area around mm 10. Great putting!

Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail

great trail - can be extended

February, 2021 by fljulsm

I ride this trail at least three times a week. Trail is becoming a little bumpy due to tree roots. I start at the trail head on 207 just south of St. Augustine. I ride to Hastings, about 10 miles. I then leave the trail and take the country roads out to the river. I see maybe 3 cars a day on those roads. I end up with a round trip of 27 miles. Check out Google maps to find the roads that lead to Federal Point from where the trail crosses Main Street in Hastings. The trail crosses 207 twice. Bvery careful, cars don’t even slow down when you are waiting to cross.

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

Great shade, straight and flat

February, 2021 by richard.osbaldiston

The east trailhead is an unmarked, unpaved sandlot just past the airport with no facilities. It looks like a sketchy place to park if you aren't familiar with the area. Trail mile markers begin at 6.0 miles here.
There are several unmarked and facility-less parking areas before you get to Florahome, and there are no services of any kind until mile 18.5 at Florahome, where there is a pit toilet, water fountain, picnic tables, and convenience store. There are no services until Twin Lakes Community park in Keystone Heights, about mile marker 27. The trail passes right by Walgreens in Keystone Hts, mile marker 30.
The trial is awesome: straight, relatively flat, and shaded most of the way from Palatka to Keystone Heights, which is about 24 miles. it parallels Hwy 100 but is separated but a buffer strip of trees.

Awesome ride

The parking lot is a little crazy, but fear not 90% of the crowd will be using the many many off road trails. Park in the second lot, and remember the off-road trails start under the arch, but the pave trail starts at the restrooms. We found no open restrooms after the trail head, so be prepared to be self sufficient. The end of the trail is just a culdesac with no services. There are very few access points along the trail, but a huge number of intersecting horse and off road bike trails.

Most of the trail parallels a highway, so not necessarily quiet. You'll have to get on the road to cross the river and connect to the Ichetucknee, but not an issue. Yes, the potholed section will keep you on your toes.

super duper

Great Trail! smooth surface, lots of curves and gentle grades made for a very pleasant ride. We have ridden trails across the country and would rate this one behind only the Mickelson Trail in the Black Hills and the Heritage Trail in Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore in Michigan.

Roadway is smooth curvy, hilly and scenic.

Black Creek Trail

Mostly nice!

January, 2021 by rsnyderlmftva

This trial is mostly nice for biking, but the one negative is the 1 mile section of wooden bridge. The slats are quite worn, noisy and hard on a road bike with thin tires. A mountain bike, however, would handle it well. You definitely wouldn’t want children to get ahead of you on trail as the crosswalks can be busy and dangerous.

Awesome!

Great trail! Nice wide paved path perfect for road bikes. Nice rolling hills, enough to challenge your legs a little on the way up and then you can enjoy the quick pace on the way down. The guy that wrote the review about the figure eight path went to the wrong trail head... he was on a different path. I almost made the mistake by going to the path he wrote about but I’m glad I went to the trail at 3080 SE 80th, had a great ride there. Highly recommended!

Withlacoochee Bay Trail

An unexpected jewel

January, 2021 by svancore

Not only is this trail very well-maintained but the wildlife is fantastic, the views are amazing and there are periodic outcroppings that are well done and well-maintained so that you can park your bike and walk out to an overlook. We saw a deer and at the end of the trail watched a dolphin hunt in the shallows. We found the contrast of the natural beauty against the distant view of the power plant to be one of the best sites in Florida. Easy access too

A Perfect Florida Winter Trail

December, 2020 by bike4-2

“Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway”. 65-75 degrees no breeze crystal blue skies. Perfect Florida winter weather on a perfect Trail for a tandem. Start at Santos Trialhead for the round trip. Probably the best trail we’ve done in Florida. Part of the unfinished Coast to Coast greenway. Curvy and rolling, canopies. Perfect asphalt, but if you are into mountain bikes, there are probably a hundred miles of dirt trail offshoots.

Palatka Urban Trail

Nice urban trail

December, 2020 by drfredlee

The trail officially begins at N 1st St and Main. This part is not so interesting. The interesting part starts at the railroad station and going north and then west from there. Parking is easy at the railroad station, too.
