Boardman Lake Loop Trail

great walk

October, 2024 by 9qqkt6jbkb

Easy, mostly flat. Stroller friendly. Lovely views of the lake, trees and all kinds of birds and animals.

Little Traverse Wheelway

no e-bike signage?

October, 2024 by bsys7p67cf

Great trail. Ridden it several times but earlier this month there was a sign posted "no e-bikes". This was not a hand-made sign - a permanent one Just south of the Petoskey park. We ran into another couple who was forced to turn around and told "ride on the road". We didn't feel like having a confrontation so we just headed back to Charlevoix. I'm not sure I can recommend this area of the trail due to the signage. Otherwise, avoiding this, it is a beautiful and well maintained trail.

Little Traverse Wheelway

Beautiful Trail

September, 2024 by 8x46pfyzzf

I highly recommend this trail. We broke our tour into two legs. Leg one from Magnus Park to Harbor Springs. Leg two from West End to Charlevoix. Wonderfully maintained, clearly marked, with lots of little detours to the coastline. The only thing we didn’t like was riding along US31 in the bike lane without a physical barrier…but that’s just us. Otherwise a fantastic trail.

Huron Sunrise Trail

Outstanding trail!

July, 2024 by ggqpvs9t5m

This is a lovely perfect trail. We started at the very beginning of the trail at the beach by the little leagues fields in Rogers City. The trail goes through town by beaches and the harbor, more beaches, through the woods, over small wooden bridges past the beach on U.S. 23, past Heoft State Park and on to 40 mile point lighthouse. You never ride on the highway at any point, the trail is safe, smooth and stunning! A must do trail!stunning!

North Central State Trail

I’ve ridden this trail many times from Topinabee to Wolverine and back; topinabee to cheboygan and back. Great trail for gravel bike. Well maintained, safe, and very scenic.

Huron Sunrise Trail

My husband and I rode this and it was fantastic. So glad the space is claimed along the Lake Huron shoreline for this paved trail. We want a similar trail close to Alpena.

Alpena to Bolton and back

August, 2023 by 2xjjyp9mpt

What a nice trail! Peaceful ride to Bolton and back (20 miles) and only saw 2 other riders. Trail is in great shape. The trailhead in Alpena is very nice with picnic tables and very nice restrooms. Looking forward to riding more of the northeastern trail, as well as the north central trail.

Huron Sunrise Trail

Lovely trail

August, 2023 by debbiejartrip

This is a lovely trail, well marked and lots of beautiful sites. It starts it a small city park on the south side of town and end at 40 Mile Lighthouse! The trail takes you thru beautiful forests, parks, a small portion of the city, Lake Huron, passing Hoeft State Park, which you can also go into and explore and over some small picturesque bridges. Highly recommend!

Boardman Lake Loop Trail

Excellent local 4 mile loop

August, 2023 by michael.g.ocallaghan

I have ridden my bike on this trail multiple times at different times of the year. It’s a nice easy 4 mile loop. There’s a good pizza restaurant nearby. Nice views. It’s pleasant seeing people pushing their babies in strollers, riding bikes, and walking, and enjoying this beautiful scenery.

North Western State Trail

Made for a good afternoon ride

August, 2023 by angela.dawn.allen

July 2023 we rode from Mackinac Bridge to Petoskey. Leaving Mack City, the trail was paved for a short distance then switched to pea sized gravel that seemed freshly placed and was slightly loose in some spots until Alanson where it was paved all the way to Petoskey. We rode with 40mm tire gravel bikes and had no issues. Smooth road bike tires would likely be challenging in looser gravel and sand at some road crossings. With 25 or 28mm, with strong confidence and bike handling skills, it might be okay. Scenery was true upper MI forest with very few views of water. Petoskey Brewing at the end of the trail also has good food. Would recommend the trail!
