If you start at the southern end near the I-275 rest stop, you can combine this with the Pinellas Trail for a 20+ mile out-back ride to downtown St. Petersburg. Beautiful vistas of bay, Skyway Bridge and downtown St. Petersburg. City needs to improve the signage at key intersections, especially at the intersection of Skyway and Bayway trails.
We parked at the train depot, pretty flat except 2 over passes, but u can ride around them.( You will have to cross the streets)It was pretty nice, can get busy.We rode into the venetian waterway park trail, which connects. That part follows the river.
5 star trail! Smooth & flat (except for 2 fairly steep but short overpasses). Plenty of areas to stop & restrooms along the way. Shady for about half the trail. Fairly busy for a Wednesday morning but one of the best trails I’ve ever been on.
Don’t miss this one. The views are amazing of the water and birds. It can be windy but you’ll fly going the opposite way. We rode from Clearwater Beach and used connecting trails to ride this one. Even if you just ride end to end and back, it’ll be a great ride. The little rises and not steep at all so don’t be worried at all.
Used this trail on our ride from Clearwater Beach to Tampa and back. It’s so great several trails are connected to make such a great route. Highly recommend.
Road from Clearwater Beach to Tampa and back today. This trail is a key piece. Everything was well signed and clear. That made for an enjoyable ride. There are some busy at grade crossing but the crossings at easy with push buttons and crosswalks.
Another great ride on the Pinellas Trail. I love that the detours are well marked. I also like the signs over the trail with the town names. If you make it to St Pete, don’t miss Dr BBQ. It’ll make the trip even better. There are several overpasses this direction so be prepared for a little shifting of gears. ¿ However, they are very short and you get the downhill, although the traffic engineers took the fun out with all the speed bumps.
We loved staying in Clearwater Beach and using this trail to access the Pinellas Trail riding North one day and south the next. It’s pretty well signed if you watch closely. The only negative on the trail was that someone had cut the air hose on the air/tool station at the bottom of the bridge. Hopefully, it’s monitored and will get fixed soon. Great views from the top of the bridge!
Great ride today over the Causeway to the Pinellas Trail. Then took it north probably pretty close to the end, north Tarpon Springs. The detour scheduled to be open March 1 probably won’t open as it wasn’t near completion today but the ride around is easy and well signed. Came back on the trail and rode out to Honeymoon Island as well. The trail wasn’t super crowded. This a great trail and there are many great eateries along the way. Highly recommend Ed.
This trail is awsome. Love the water supplied. Nice trail smooth, the path is nice and wide.
Fun ride, well maintained paved surface. Several points of interest along the water. Saw nesting bald eagles. Nice to ride away from the highway noise. Highly recommend this beautiful trail.
