A beautiful trail Id like to come back and do on like a weekday morning. It was a fun challenge though to skate around people and still manage around 10 mph overall. Good for a skater who can manage making it around people. Otherwise, the surface quality and scenery is beautiful.
Such a fun trail to skate. The Rickenbacker itself is a unique challenge particularly in controlling speed but also winding through the beautiful trails in Key Biscayne/Big Baggs is so much fun. Cannot recommend enough for a good skater but also remember protective gear !
half of the paths listed here are more similar to sidewalks than trials. However it’s safe. and is paved with mostly smooth asphalt.
the trial is great if your walking, however if your on a bike you constantly have to make narrow passes. and sometimes swerve into the grass to avoid other cyclists’s. you also have to cross busy intersections every few miles, and you have to walk your bike to get across safely.
the intersections are very busy, and you have to constantly watch out for cars turning right. the actual trial itself is very wide, however the crossings ruin it for me.
Underline is expanding, you could ride from Brickell to Vizcaya and back now, it’s planning to expand to even further and the roads are really smooth and nice, highly recommend if you want a fast smooth uninterrupted ride amidst the middle of the city
Lots of crocodiles! Bring water as there are no refills anywhere on the trail. And sunscreen since there is no shade. I parked along the highway and walked my bike through the entrance. This way you don't have to wait in car line AND entrance costs cheaper without the car.
Although there is a green bike lane, you can also use trail that is separated from cars. Nice trail, there is parking at Commodore Trail north-end trailhead / Alice Wainwright park. OpenSeas cafe had nice Spanish tapas and grilled seafood.
This is a mixed use trail and goes along Miami Beach. Southern part is very crowded, lots of pedestrians and other bikers. Don't expect racing speeds, I managed 7 mph. Towards middle and north the trail becomes more enjoyable for cyclists. You can cross to the island to the north across the bridge (use sidewalk) and continue for another mile or so.
Pavement quality is atrocious. I guess its OK for jogging but pretty bad for bikes. There is a gravel part that goes to water. Pretty sad state of the trail considering locals live in 7-8 figure houses, jog on it and yet don't care.
Altho it runs by a canal, there are undulating curves which improves on the monotony of a linear path. I parked at the northern end, the totally charming Wellby Park (bathrooms by the field on west end and over the footbridge to the east end). There is a gate on the western side to access the N-S running bike trail (gate is not on the map). Trail switches and sides a couple of times and the major intersections are long and dreary
