Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail-Trail

great place to ride

June, 2021 by robert210

Went down last week and rode with my daughter. It being a train route the trail is arrow-straight and pancake-flat. Saw folks rocking aero bikes and kids with training wheels. Lots of services available along the route. Well done!!

6th Street Rail Trail

Great connector trail

Don’t let the short mileage fool you. This little nugget moves you through some great breweries, right next to one of Gainesville’s bike shops, you cruise by a grocery store all while connecting you to a series of longer trails. And it does so very Safely through downtown Gainesville. I appreciate this trail immensely.

Great Ride

May, 2021 by g.deyoung1007

This trail was the third this week. We are tired, but- ONE more on the way home! It was nice, shady, had some bridges to go under. It truly is 14.5 so 29 round trip. It was smooth for the most part. It is a well liked trail and we saw many cyclists and walkers.

long and straight

Suwannee River bridge is the highlight not much else to see. Trailheads not marked well, Cheifland trailhead is non existent. Best ride is Trenton to Crosscity

Nice Ride

May, 2021 by ckoher

My husband and I rode the entire length and back of this trail today. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a ride. We had a heck of a ride to Baldwin with the strong headwinds the entire ride. The east and west trailheads were very basic. The east end had a bathroom. The west end had a port a pot. Just in from the west end about 3 miles you will find the Baldwin Train Depot, we stopped and rested a bit there. There was a bathroom at the nature preserve a little further along. Close to the midway point was another trailend. The ride was nice, but not much to look at. We did see some gopher tortoises, I spotted a. Deer, but that was about it.

So we'll maintained and shady

What a wonderful ride from Baldwin to mile marker 5 and back. With my bad knee, I have to keep it under 20 miles, and this was a lovely mostly shady ride.

Payne’s Prairie is a gem

Trail riding the GHT is certainly a excellent ride but stopping frequently to take photos and walk the creek and LaChua trails are the best way to spend an afternoon. I’m heading back out again next week to shoot some more film.

Suwannee River Greenway at Branford

Not worth it.

March, 2021 by termayn

In rough shape & no noise buffer along Hwy. 27 east of Branford. You cannot enjoy looking at the countryside if you’re having to focus all your attention on the trail surface. The section in town is decent. Be very careful when crossing the narrow bridge to connect to the Ichetucknee trail.

Nature Coast State Trail

Right trail-Right time.

Only rode from Fanning Springs to Old Town and river bridge area. Beautiful day and couldn’t ask for a better trail section. All thumbs up.

Old Town trail head

March, 2021 by dgp13123_tl

Very nice trail. Certainly would rate this Very Easy. Flat and straight. I Started from the trailhead in Old Town. There is room for parking along side the road. Old Town to Trenton is an easy 20 miles round trip. Old Town to Cross City is also about 20 miles round trip. Old Town to Chiefland is about 26 miles round trip. The trail is well maintained. The trestle bridge provides a beautiful view of the Suwannee.
