Four Freedoms Trail

Very nice trail. Mostly shady

May, 2020 by pauhana1951

We walked this in two different sections. The first time we started in Madison, where you have to just park on the side of the road, and walked almost to the picnic area just outside of Pinetta. The next time we parked in Pinetta at the parking area in town by the picnic tables and restrooms and walked to the river and then back to the same picnic area outside of Pinetta. Most of the trail is very shady, which is great in our southern heat. If you are heading to the river, be sure and spray with Off or some other type of bug repellent as the biting flies can be pretty bad at times. Wish I could figure out how to upload my pictures because it is really a pretty hike.

Archer Braid Trail

Traffic noise

May, 2020 by sandhillgarden

The trial is very nice, shady and wide. However, the noise from the traffic on Archer Road is extremely loud, and the only parking anywhere in Archer is in the sun. My dog can't be in the sun; the car gets too hot.

Great Trail

May, 2020 by swamp3815

Trail is well maintained. Nice parking areas with good small facilities at Imeson Trailhead. Baldwin has excellent facilities. Between mile markers 8 and 9 another timely facility. Halsema Rd parking has a few picnic tables and portable restroom. I was there on Memorial Day Sunday. It was crowded. Most riders practice road etiquette, but a few don’t...be careful. I will definitely do this trail again

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

Nice Trail

May, 2020 by swamp3815

I started my ride on State Road 100 just west of Palatka Regional Airport. Very nice well maintained trail. My intentions were to make it to Keystone Heights. Unfortunately, after two knee replacements I found I was not ready to make the complete round trip. While I enjoyed the trail very much, a restroom would have been really nice to see.

Four Freedoms Trail

Lovely Shaded Ride

May, 2020 by monique.ellsworth

From beginning to end the ride took about an hour each way. The shade and rest spots along the way were a welcomed reprieve from the sun and gave us a chance to apply more sunscreen and drink some water. The ride takes you past numerous pastures and livestock. Shady oaks cover most of the trail. It was a bit difficult to find parking. We ended up parallel parking on a residential street.

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

A Great Ride

You ever have one of those days when you are out exercising and everything is going really good. The weather is perfect, your spirits are high, you feel really good and your bike is running smooth and fast. April 26, 2020 was one of those days for me. It was a great ride. I picked up the trail just west of the Palatka Regional Airport. This trail is nice and smooth and has very little traffic. I highly recommend.

Four Freedoms Trail

Mixed feelings but definitely has potential

March, 2020 by gatorcritter

The Four Freedoms Trail is a pretty 12 mile trail that parallels a state highway for much of the way. A strip of trees provides a buffer from the road noise and wind. It has several sections of oak canopy and traverses some very pretty countryside. The final two plus miles north of Pinetta are more isolated and do not parallel the highway. Unfortunately, as others have pointed out, the trail is poorly maintained. I rode my road bike (with cyclocross tires) on today's ride. There are numerous tree roots, some potholes, sandy spots, and a lot of debris (leaves, twigs, branches) on portions of the trail. The majority of the trail is doable for road bikes but the section immediately south of Pinetta (miles 7 to 8.5) is very rough and is best suited for mountain bikes or hybrids. The trail has great potential if someone from the state or county is willing to take care of it.

Suwannee River Greenway at Branford

Trail needs work

March, 2020 by twopalms_2

There were lots of potholes, crumbled edges and damage from tree roots along this trail. The wooded section was shaded but also covered with leaves and tree branches that often hid the damaged sections of trail. In many places the holes in the trail had been recently filled with asphalt. But when you fill a six inch deep hole with only three inches of fill---there's still a hold to deal with. We did have the trail to ourselves though.

Excellent trail. Many things to do other than the main body trail which offers many options for multiple trips.
