Ballona Creek Bike Path

Nice path that goes the distance

May, 2018 by joe.lovegren

I have done this section several times from MDR to Culver and back. It is fine on a bike, hilly as you go up and down for the overpasses. It is not so great on roller skates as and jogging.

Bring your own water as the water fountains there are often in disrepair. As you go you will find a park accessible - the park has working water fountains.

Great Trail busy in Stamp and Venicw

Love this ride. Some walking traffic and slow riders around Santa Monica and Venice but the people watching in those areas make up for the slow pace in those areas. I ride it almost every weekend.

Marvin Braude Bike Trail

Totally Cool Beach Cruise for All Levels and Types of Rider

February, 2018 by sag_tl

I rode this trail of amazing beach and ocean scenery mixed with totally LA culture, on the sunny, warm Saturday afternoon of a winter holiday weekend. The trail runs along the beach of the Pacific coastline of Los Angeles almost fully uninterrupted, for about 20 miles that span major LA beach communities including Redondo Beach, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica. The natural scenery of the beach and ocean is amazing, and traveling by bicycle is the best (if not only) way to experience all of LA's beach communities in a single day.

The one downside to my ride was that on this busy Saturday afternoon, bicycle traffic on the trail was as heavy as cars I-405 in the rush hour! Trail riders ran the gamut from swimsuit-clad beach cruisers, to tourists on rental tandem bikes, to families with children, to more 'serious' riders on fitness and road bikes. Navigating the bicycle traffic took some caution and skill, and was worth the benefit in scenery and convenient travel through the beach communities. One stretch of the trail (about 8 miles), that fronts LA's industrial waterfront, was wide open and free of pedestrians and slower cyclists. It was easy enough to simply shift my gaze to the beach and blue ocean waters and away from the industrial scenery.

Overall this was one the best bike rides I've ever taken. I strongly recommend this trail for all bikers!

Calleguas Creek Bike Path

Amazing Bike Path

November, 2017 by seabeegeorge

This trail is heavily used by so many people and visitors from outside the City. I give it a rating of 10/10 because of how it was built with so much engining thought. The trail runs next to Calleguas Creek from Upland all the way to the Pleasant Valley Field complex on the west side of the 101 freeway. The enterances to the path are so well posted and easy to enter with a trike. There are a lot of other cyclist with all types and class, and along side there path is filled with the usual dog walkers and runner. I love the way the path crossess the roads by building a path underneath the road, and this allows it to be very safe for everyone! The bathrooms are at the Pleasant Valley Fields and at Pitts Ranch Park and are very clean. I ride a trike and sometimes I find myself zoning out as I peddle down the path because it is so relaxing. I am sure you will too!!!!

Orange Line Bike Path

Fun easy ride

August, 2017 by jenlizcano

Only downside is the amount of stopping at lights for major streets. You can add some quick mileage if you do the Balboa Park loop once or twice (about 7 miles each loop). Water is scarce on the trail itself but Balboa Park is a good pit stop. I like to park at Canoga Station and leave from there

Ojai Valley Trail

Always a great ride

June, 2017 by

We live in Ventura and ride this trail at least once a month. It is always fun and a great ride. Even in the heat of the summer if you start early in the morning you can ride up to Ojai have breakfast in one of the many great places to eat then be going back down the trail in the shade with the coastal breeze in your face and dropping almost 20 degrees by the time you get back to Ventura.

Good trail.....for experienced riders

June, 2017 by ramsaygoyal

On this trail, there are many elevation gains and decreases. Going down is fun, but going up can be tiring. There is also a lack of shade on this trail. For those reasons, this isn't a very family friendly trail. However, you never have to stop, making it a great trail if you want to break a sweat and get some good exercise in.

San Antonio Creek Trail

Inline Skating - Not for beginners

April, 2017 by sandrabergmeir

The location is nice, residential area next to a creek. Lots of trees and shade but also open, sunny spots. The asphalt has seen better days and is borderline okay for skating but lots of cracks. Due to the trees there are a lot of little sticks and leaves on the trail as well. On top of that, it's not a flat trail, there are quite a few step but short hills up and down. If you are a beginner this is nothing for you. If you are an advanced skater and know how to break an don't mind the dirt and a little rough surface, it's a fun skate!

Although the app says biking is allowed, the sign posted on the trail at the north and says no cycling.

Ventura River Trail

well maintained through an ugly area

April, 2017 by etaub

The trail is kept up, but until you reach the Ojai trail, which is essentially an extension of this one, you go through some typically ugly southern California terrain, past oil derricks, storage depots, and scrub.

Next time, I'll skip this trail and just about five miles up at the Ojai trail.

FYI, there is no exit 71 on the 101 if you're going north (there is if you're going south). Instead, take the 33 and get off the first exit.

Also, Rex St has no street sign; it's just past the 33 entrance as you drive up Olive.
