Shark Valley Tram Road

Absolute fantastic

February, 2024 by mikhaila

Lots of crocodiles! Bring water as there are no refills anywhere on the trail. And sunscreen since there is no shade. I parked along the highway and walked my bike through the entrance. This way you don't have to wait in car line AND entrance costs cheaper without the car.

Shark Valley Tram Road

A Must!

Located just inside the shark valley entrance to the Everglades. National park is a wonderful path that allows you to see wildlife along the way. The only caution is you must bring water, sunscreen and head cover. Hopefully you’re wearing a helmet ! This beautifully paved surface allows you to spot, alligators and crocodiles along the way. Halfway around the loop there is an observation tower with restroom facilities. The day we were there water was not operational, so make sure you bring extra water. Not a bad idea to bring a snack as there are no facilities available inside the park that sell beverages or food.

Nature ride

Arrow straight for 7 miles along a canal, watch for the wild life. Route back has curves but nothing crazy. Great ride, but bring water, No shade .

Gordon River Greenway

This is one of my favorite places to walk. Has a connection to the park which I love. There is also an outlet near the zoo.

Gordon River Greenway

beautiful bike ride

July, 2021 by mlong.stats

Taking all the side parts of this paved/boardwalk trail, we got in 6 miles from Gordon River Greenway Park to the end where it dead ends into a regular street near another park. Great for a leisurely bike ride, not appropriate for going fast on bikes b/c of the winding path and pedestrians that have right of way. Very scenic.

Well worth the trip!

Made a nice day trip out of this by going past the airport to Baker's park. From there a few blocks into Naples to Gulfshore Blvd and then north to Lowdermilk Park and had lunch and refreshments at Rita's there at the beachside pavillion. We reversed that course and made it a 14.5 mile round trip, but found later that if we would have went north from Lowdermilk towards Doctors Pass, we could have wound up just a couple blocks from the parking lot back at Gordon River Park. Also could have had some beach time at Lowdermilk if we had brought our swimwear! Very nice beach facility there. Highly recommended trip!

connection to Baker park and beach

This is a great trail that gives you many options. You can do the boardwalk and loop back to parking lot about 3.5 miles. You can venture further and go watch the private jets take off at the nearby Naples Airport. Baker Park is two or three miles away and has many recreational facilities and activities. We went to Baker Park and then used the municipal bike lane straight to the Naples Beach. The homes along the city route were stunning. Round trip we went 12 miles and had a great time and stopped for lunch at the Naples Pub off 10 Street.

nice easy ride

Beautiful, relaxing ride. Scenic ride. Make sure you have a bell to warn walkers you are passing on the left. If golden gate parking is full, you can park off of Goddlette- Frank BLVD near the zoo.

Great path

Cool trail with several nice bridges over the Gordon river and a new bridge to Baker Park. Can add a few more miles to the ride by going past the end of the trail past the Naples airport

Janes Memorial

Continue up Janes Memorial all the way to the end. It's about 6 miles of dirt road. There you can either take the trail to the right or continue on an additional 6 or so miles of Janes that is now closed to traffic. The trail to the right is an old raised railroad bed and is a great cross country ride through the swamp. At the end is a camp site, lake and fire pit. This place is loaded with wildlife including numerous alligators. You need to be aware that they can be anywhere along the trail. Great ride and it can get muddy and wet after heavy rains. Saw 8 alligators last time on that rail. One was actually across the trail itself and didn't want to move. Had to wait it out.
