San Juan Creek Trail

Great Trail

June, 2020 by anialmog

This trail is great. The first three miles are gorgeous, surrounded by orange trees, the mountains, and the equestrian center. The smell is not the most pleasant for the first half mile, but still bearable. The last three miles are okay - the San Juan Creek is not pretty by any means, but it is neat to follow the downtown San Juan Capistrano area for a little bit. I wish the signage was better when crossing La Novia Street. Signage was also a tad confusing and I actually merged into the Trabuco Creek Trail before realizing and turning around and crossing the bridge. .

San Clemente Beach Trail

Trail Interrupted

May, 2020 by lauralglynn

Unfortunately this winter a landslide forced the closure of this trail, starting at the North side, about 3/4 of a mile in. There’s no way around it unless the tide is ultra low - then go around on the sand. The city officials have no opening projected as the must involve geologists, etc to repair the slide. Sad day for this lovely trail. You can pick the trail back up via street at Mariposa or Linda Lane and continue South.

Santa Gertrudis Creek Trail

Friday Afternoon Ride

Quick and easy ride with my husband and 12 year old son. Got windy going back to where we parked but it was an overall great bike ride on a Friday afternoon.

Dana Point Headlands Trail

Low-key with beautiful views

February, 2020 by chapmanjennifer

It's a little hard to find the entry from the Strand Vista parking lot, but we figured it out thanks to a helpful dog walker. For the part actually on the headlands, expect a gentle slope down to the tip and a gentle slope back up, mostly packed dirt or sand with areas of loose sand. Perfect for young children. Grandparents who are steady on loose sand will be fine too. Bring binoculars to look at the boats on the water. The nature center is interesting and well done for a small nature center.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade

Short paved walk right along the train tracks. about 20 inspirational messages from Martin Luther King along the sidewalks. Stop and smell the roses.

Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail

Love love love this path!

This is truly one of the most picturesque trails that I’ve found in OC. I’m lucky to live where the trail starts near El Toro and Ridgeline, so I am right on the trail and it’s a beautiful and well-kept bikeway where I do my longer runs. I’m so happy I found this one! I’ll be doing my long runs here for sure!

Mission Beach-Pacific Beach Boardwalk

Great for rollerblading

December, 2019 by fozzyb

Sun, beach, rollerblading. Couldn't be better. Smooth cement paths. Be sure to slow down for congested pedestrian areas. Other areas OK to speed up. I must have put on 800 miles on these paths on one set of wheels. Park for free at the mission bay parking lot. The boardwalk is a 6 mile loop. When you add the bay, it's about 17 miles total.

San Luis Rey River Trail

This was a really nice ride I went from the coast up and back. It's mostly flat and not too busy. I did this one on a single speed cruiser. Had a lot of fun.

Sweetwater Bikeway

I felt unsafe

March, 2019 by alanagilmore

Many homeless people living along the path. High brush and garbage, tunnel made me nervous. Then, it continued down the side of a road. Not interested in walking with cars.
