The south part if this trail is one of the best scenic “woodsy” bike trails. You want it to go on longer. But Tomoka state where the map says it starts isn’t a bike trail. Very scenic and pretty but mostly for fishing and camping. I recommend doing the asphalt trail in the woods from Tomoka state park to Inglesa Ave. or park at Inglesa and ride to Tomoka state park.
The West Orange Trail is now my home trail since I've retired. It's a safe, easy, and non-demanding trail with tons of scenery, lots of trees, and many convenient stops. Downtown Winter Garden is awesome. A few busier than desired street crossings interfere with the ride, but nothing too involved. The worst part of the trail are the wanna-be pro riders that zoom past you without any 'On Your Left' warnings. Kinda rude, but nothing to keep you from enjoying your ride.
A lot of this asphalt trail is not shaded, some running just to the side of the road.
What a gorgeous trail! Quiet, few curves, only a couple of road crossings. The dappled sunshine was wonderful and the day was cool enough to truly enjoy the ride.
The Magnolia Park Trailhead off Binion Road is currently closed and is torn up due to construction so you will be redirected to Lust Road. It’s a shame because it cuts off some scenic mileage - hopefully they’ll be done soon but the trailhead was really torn up. Without the Magnolia Park entrance it is all packed limestone which can get a little bumpy. Once you get going there isn’t any water until you reach Green Mountain Overlook. It was a beautiful ride with very little elevation change before Green Mountain Overlook.
Never feels “packed” and nice scenery!
I’ve seen rabbits, otters and gators while riding this trail (different occasions for each.) The path is well maintained and great for inlines. Not all of it is scenic, there are many parts that run directly behind peoples houses or school fields. For me the scenic areas are worth the spots that are less so.
Need to access the trail from 2050 Lust Road.
This was a beautiful trail, even though you have to navigate your GPS to go from one segment to the next, since they are not connected. We started at Blue Spring Park and went north to Ponca DeLeon, which was about 15-16 miles each way. DeLeon Springs has an amazing pancake house and a beautiful swimming lagoon. $2 gets you into the park on a bike. The following day we rode south to Gemini Springs park. You can’t swim there but it’s a beautiful park to chill for an hour or two. The trail east of Gemini
Very nice trail. The ride is off the road. It's shaded in a lot of areas. It's good for beginners and intermediate riders. I ride this trail regularly.
Decided to travel to this side of the state to try out the paved bike trails in Seminole, Orange & Volusia counties & we started with the Cross Seminole Trail at the Big Tree Park trailhead. We rode down to The Cady Way trailhead and then back which gave us about 36.85 miles for the day. A lot of intersections to cross so be careful! Stop in Winter Springs for a cool drink!
Rode the trail again but took the 47 mile route for my 1st CENTURY ride, just wish I could have gotten three more miles on that side for the full 50. The new addition to trail is nearly done but is accessible, just be aware of the incomplete curbs! Trail is mostly shaded until you get to Sanford’s Coast line which is beautiful¿. Came into close encounters with two baby bobcats at mile 92 as the sun began to set. Let’s say the adrenaline kicked in very quick. Warning there are three overpass so if you ride entire trail save some energy but you can skip the over pass and pass underneath for wimps only! SAFE TRAVELS!¿¿¿¿
