Lackawanna River Heritage Trail

not worth it

July, 2021 by rxpals

If you are looking for a well marked, continuous trail this is not the trail for you. Parts of the trail actually run parallel to the river. Unfortunately this is only a minor part of the trail. For the rest of the trail you will spend much time being frustrated by the lack of conspicuous signage. Not with it unless you are desperate.

July 18th 2021 Fun ride with lots of sights and history to take in. Rode with my Nephew, it is his local trail. Parts of our ride were awesome smooth wide trail and other parts were very rough narrow and bumpy. I will ride more of this trail next time that I am in the area.

Back Mountain Trail

not a quiet trail

July, 2021 by imdromeara

If you are looking for a trail with ambiance, this is not it. Unfortunately it’s placed above and next to a very busy road creating a lot of traffic noise. This trail is also not a loop, so you will have to turn around and walk back, through the noise of traffic. Probably a great trail for the local neighborhood but not one I will go back to from outside the area.

The ride from Simpson to Ararat was great. The ride uphill is doable. My wife and I did it and she is 60 and I’m 59. Stopped in Union dale at general store. Nice people. Ride back was quick downhill. Surface well maintained.

Schuylkill River Trail

great trail

March, 2021 by ford6668

Started at the trail end near Phoenixville did 11 miles towards Oaks. It was a beautiful day and not many people on trail. Most of the way the views were great and trail was very wide. Some hills but not to bad.

Just recently biked the Jermyn to Mellow Park section of the trail. It was beautiful and well maintained. Only issue was PARKING at Jermyn trailhead. I don't know where there would have been alternate parking nearby since the few assigned spaces were taken ( including some spots through the gate along the side of trail) (???) I parked, probably illegally, on the road adjacent to parking area.

Conservancy Narrow Gauge Rail Trail

Crusty Snow, Cold Air, Pleasant Walk

March, 2021 by hp98512

Nice drive up out of the Susquehanna Valley, easy to locate trailhead with good parking. Trail is level, (signs say bikes okay on rail grade only - today we are on foot). Trail is wooded, a couple of side loops for interpretive and conservation information. There were 6 or so inches of snow with a frozen crust that broke through every 6th step or so, but it was quite enjoyable, and this early March Saturday afternoon we had it all to ourselves. We will come back later this spring and see how it looks with leaves. I held back one star because I prefer more rugged trails, but today this was just the thing.

What A Treasure

Eros (Standard Poodle), myself and a friend walk this trail for 5 miles every morning before sunrise. We feel so fortunate to have this awesome trail in our backyard. The grounds are well groomed the and the Kirby park portion is lite. Would love to see the light post continue to Rutter Ave.
