Armstrong Trail

September, 2025 by 2pn4cngc48

I started in Ford City and rode all the way up to the Brady Tunnel. The tunnel has overhead lights but I would bring a headlight just in case. Pack drinks and snacks because there is nothing else till you get to Bradys Bend if you go that far .Make sure you have a spare inner tube just in case. The trail is very well maintained some paved sections in Kittanning have a lot of tree roots sticking up…. The Bike Lab in Kittanning 724 -919-0308 is a newer bicycle shop in town .There is a Foxes Pizza right along the trail in town plus a Dunkin Donuts.

Great Allegheny Passage

Great ride on a great trail.

I just completed the entire GAP. It was well worth it. The trail was in good shape and there was not too much traffic. I’d like to do it again.

Brooke Pioneer Trail

Pleasant Trail

September, 2025 by pturner2

We were passing through the area and looking for a trail to ride for a couple of hours. The Brooke Pioneer trail was nice. For the mostpart away from roads with the Ohio River to the west. It merged into the Wheeling Heritage Trail seamlessly. IMO its not a destination trail but very nice for a 25 mile ride RT while in the area. We didn't do all of the Wheeling Heritage trail due to time limits but enjoyed what we did. (We raced a tugboat pushing a barge upstream and won!) (bragging rights - no prizes)

Conotton Creek Trail

Very Nice!!

September, 2025 by pturner2

My wife was running a 5K in Moundsville, WV and we camped at Barckcamp State Park. On the way home to Akron we stopped and did the Conotton Trail. We did it about 10 years ago but didnt remember much. It was a delightful trail; good asphalt, pastoral country scenery, mostly shady.

We were pulling our 65lb dog in a trailer and we passed someone pulling a 108lb Rottweiler in a trailer (neither on ebikes) and enjoyed the interaction.

Recommend parking at Jewett. It's a large parking area and easy to find. (perfect since we had a trailer. Bowerstown has room for 1-2 cars at the trailhead.

It was a beautiful drive through the rolling hills of SE Ohio on a stunning late summer day with blue skies, warm temperatures and the fall colors starting to come out. It's a little out of the way but if you are passing by with your bikes and have a couple of hours its worth it. Or if you're staying in the area and are looking for a nice, easy bike path you won't be disappointed.

Western Reserve Greenway

Excellent Trail

September, 2025 by jsafret

7 September 2025 - rode north from the North River Road trailhead for 10 miles then back. This is an excellent trail, relatively flat and well maintained. The surface is asphalt and smooth. There are a few road crossing but the roads are not busy. There were not many people on the trail even though this was a nearly perfect day for biking. This trail could be described as a destination trail, well worth a one or two hour drive.

Allegheny River Trail

Bumpy Emlenton to Kennerdell Bumpy but shaded

September, 2025 by vicki1960

Parked in Emlenton, 27 miles South of Franklin and headed North to just North of the Kennerdell Tunnel approx 13 miles South of Franklin. This section has two lengthy tunnels, need a light. Very well shaded with views of the Allegheny River. The trade off is that this section is super bumpy with uplifted asphalt pavement due to tree roots. You'll ride along and then all of a sudden hit a series of roots which catch you off guard as they are not marked and difficult to see. Some stretches it's uplifted asphalt one after another. We usually ride this section once per year and since last year it's gotten progressively worse. Other than the washboard areas, this is a good trail. Once a year is enough.

John C. Oliver Multi-Purpose Loop Trail

Labor Day Weekend super shaded!

September, 2025 by vicki1960

Participated in Mercer County Trails Associations annual Pedal the Lakes organized bike ride. The trail is super shaded and even thicker foliage than over the Summer. End of Summer ride showing slight signs of upcoming Autumn. It was a beautiful day at the park, Maurice K. Goddard State Park. The trail offers some great views of Lake Wilhelm as well as rolling Pennsylvania terrain.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

trail ride

This trail is a hidden gem. Excellent ride to Lisbon today and back. 25 miles round trip give or take. I saw 9 deers and several brave squirrels darted around my tires. If you get a chance, ride this trail

Western Reserve Greenway

Sunside to Orwell

September, 2025 by vicki1960

Labor Day weekend, Sunside (Route 305 in Champion) to Orwell at Route 322 and back. 35 mile round trip. Beautiful day on the trail. Plenty of shade. Most of this section is wooded with a few working farms along the way. Trail is paved and there are some bumpy sections. We enjoyed our ride on this Holiday weekend.

Allegheny River Trail

Scenic and well maintained!

August, 2025 by joekr160

Rode from the Franklin trailhead off of route 322 to the Kennerdell Tunnel and a bit beyond. The majority of the trail was paved and smooth. The gravel section just North of Kennerdell was challenging for my wife and the couple riding with us, (Skinny tires) Otherwise a scenic and fun adventure! (A 5 Beer Rating)🍺🍻🍻😎

MetroParks Bikeway

Rooty Section has been repaved

August, 2025 by vicki1960

Summer 2025 the rooty section of this trail has been repaved. It's very nice and smooth at approx mile markers 2-4. Though the about 1st mile still has a section of large cracks, it's definitely getting better! It was a cooler and cloudy day so we didn't notice too much this trail doesn't have a lot of shade. It actually rained a little during our ride though it was not in the forecast. Northern end connects with Niles Greenway. Southern end is in Canfield, across from the Canfield fairgrounds. An all around great trail, paved and approx 11 miles in length.

Shenango Trail

Summer Hike

August, 2025 by vicki1960

After weeks and weeks of record breaking temperatures, finally a break and a cooler day to head to the Shenango Trail. Very well shaded but a bit buggy being along the river. Still a great day for a hike and to spend time in the woods. After June flooding, and now a draught almost, the water level very low and muddy.
