West Orange Trail

Beautiful Well-Maintained Trail

March, 2026 by tammy85

My husband and I rode this trail today (3-31-26) and had a great experience. The trail is well-maintained and the downtown area is so cute. We stopped a couple of times for lunch and coffee. I would highly recommend this trail. Beautiful trees and open spaces, with lots of rest stops throughout the ride.

Withlacoochee State Trail

A must ride Florida trail but be aware near mile 1 & 2.

Rode the WST for first time today. Started at the Owensboro trail head and rode 23 miles up to Floral City. So peaceful & quiet especially compared to Suncoast that we did earlier in the week. Was a very nice ride even though we did run into a couple of scary situations. Right where the good neighbor trail intersects with the WST there was a rattle snake on the pavement. Very thankful to the rider that came off the GNT and stopped and pointed it out to us. Without his heads up I likely would have ran over it. The 2nd scary event was coming back to the trailhead we had started at. Somewhere between mile 1 & 2 there were 2 large black dogs that came out of the woods and started going after my wife. Fortunately, I heard her screaming and looked back. 2 dogs chasing her and 1 of them was at her ankles. She got away by having to hit the throttle on the e-bike. Be aware.

Withlacoochee State Trail

nice quiet rural trail

March, 2026 by pgi855

I rode the southernmost 15 miles which starts in Owensboro, near Dade City. There’s a dirt parking lot there, but no restroom. The trail is smooth asphalt about six feet wide. Beyond that there are trees on both sides. At some points you can see thru the trees and see some ranch like land until you get into the Withlachoochee State forest. About 5 miles into the ride there is a restroom stop. At about 11.4 miles the asphalt gets older and a bit rougher but still is good- no tree roots or potholes. There is limited shade. At mile 15 we got off the trail and had lunch at Brees Riverside cafe. shade

General James A. Van Fleet State Trail

Solitude plus!

There don't seem to be many outdoor spaces left in crowded central Florida that offer a quiet, removed experience. This trail has it in abundance, however. Running straight as an arrow through grazing lands, forest, and wetlands, it's almost a Zen-like experience as you cruise silently along the miles. Most activity is near to the trail starting points, so after a few miles away from those, you're left to yourself. One of the best, for sure.

Flatwoods Park Trail

Nice hour ride

My brother in law and I rode this trail 2/23/26. We were in the area so hopped on the trail doing the loop from Bruce B Downs. Cold day but really enjoyed it. On our way back to Venice we stopped in Ybor and had lunch at the Columbia. Fun day.

Kewannee Trail

Nice quiet neighborhood stroll

February, 2026 by christineac321

The wooden nature walkway is currently under construction for safety reasons (they completely removed it) and I’m not sure when/if it will be reinstalled but I hope so. It was a nice little, brief excursion through the woods. The rest of the path is paved and perfect for a walk, bike ride or skating. It’s nice to have in my backyard

We rode from Croom to the south end of this amazing trail. Smooth asphalt, shaded by a canopy of trees it was a quiet place to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.

General James A. Van Fleet State Trail

BORING

January, 2026 by jcparker914

The trail was about 10’ wide And definitely no bathrooms. Very desolate very very few people around we went on a Saturday afternoon. Cloudy it probably would’ve been hot if the sun was out it was 75 and cloudy if you like cows and trees you would enjoy it. We went about 7 miles and turned around. We sort of liked this path but other than that it was boring I thought and so did my wife. We started on the south end by Auburndale Trail and continued on to this trail about

RELAXING

¿. You can ride along The path and see the huge sports complex. Beautiful dog park fenced in and playgrounds - all types of stuff for people to do - benches for sitting on the sides of the trail. The trail is blacktop about 10 foot wide very smooth besides some spots. We started at the south end and went north to General James A. Vann Fleet State Trail and continued on that trail for another 15 miles then turned around and came back

Lake Jackson Trail

I didn't care for this trail. Its all on uneven sidewalks in front of houses and you never know when someone pulls out and stops in the bike lane. Then you have to ride on route 98 which is also on sidewalks with busy ass traffic.
