Four Freedoms Trail

Needs Maintenance

December, 2023 by sweetm40

Beautiful trail but dangerous due to lack of maintenance. Signs missing at intersections, overgrown in areas, downed trees blocking the path and major asphalt buckling.
Contacted FDOT to inquire about maintenance, FDOT referred me to Madison Public Works and provided contact information. Sent an e-mail requesting maintenance but did not receive a response. Hope to try it again someday.

Wonderful trail

November, 2023 by barbscondo

We parked at the first trailhead closest to I-295. That is designated Mile #1. The first 2 miles does not have a lot of shade but after that it is a beautiful tree canopy! We are from AZ so love the trees! About 6? Miles in is Camp Milton. The best part of the ride! Traillink shows the turn off and a little circle of tail within the park. Keep going!! What it doesn’t show are all the beautiful concrete winding paths in the Park. They go on and on through the trees. And then we stumbled on the most wonderful mile or two of boardwalk built above the forest floor floor and winding in the trees

Beautiful bike trail

We rode the trail from Prairie Creek Preserve to Depot Park in Gainesville. Shaded with beautiful trees, nice hills & curves on the way. Great lunch at Goldie’s Burgers at Depot Park.

Gainesville-Hawthorne State Park Trail

Gorgeous and absolutely worth the time

October, 2023 by schakeldan

Beautiful trail and absolutely worth the time. Went on Sunday afternoon about 1:30/2pm and the trail only had a few people (less than 15) for the first couple miles. After that we were the only ones on the trail. Pavement has some bumps due to tree roots here and there, but they are mostly mild. Trail follows along a stream on both sides for portions of the mileage. Overall beautiful and 90%+ shaded. Gorgeous!

Save your body and gear!

Entire trail is full of pot holes, dented and raised areas from tree roots. Runs along side road most of trail.

You now can pedal from Keystone Heights to the town of Hampton, adding about six more miles of paved trail to enjoy.

Columbus Day ride

October, 2023 by seashell_cottage

We visited Madison RV resort on our way home. We found this bike trail on your app. It is a 12 mile ride one way, we rode 8 miles of this trail. It was a nice relaxing ride.I have to give a big thumbs up to the entinty that cleaned the trail after the hurricane. It was completely clear of any obstacles. The first 7 miles were clear biking, at which time the trail was getting a tad rooty. Mother Nature is winning the tree root intrusion.I would give this trail an absolute go and rideable

Decent Trail-Not Much Scenery

May, 2023 by jallen1804

The asphalt surface is in good condition. Most of the trail runs along a highway. The scenery is nothing to get excited about.

Nice Ride

Most of the trail is shady. The asphalt surface is in pretty good shape. We saw a deer on our ride.

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

Nice long flat ride

May, 2023 by pitsplace

We have rode this a couple times in the last couple months. We parked at north end point of main trail where future trail will cross HWY 100 north of Keystone. It’s not really a parking area but there is room for about 6 cars and I saw other people parking there so we did too. As other people have said it is within 20-30 yards at times of HWY100 but it ducks in and out of the woods and there is plenty of trail that isn’t close to the highway. We rode out 22 miles to south of the State Forest north of Palatka and then headed back. There is a little

Four Freedoms Trail

Has potential

May, 2023 by pitsplace

I’m going to echo some of the other reviews. It has potential but it needs some maintenance. There are a lot areas where roots have heaved up the asphalt bad and there not marked. It needs to be cleared of limbs and twigs and it isn’t marked real clearly at places as to which way you should go makes it a one and done for us. Trails like Gainesville, Jacksonville or West Orange are on a completely different level. Rode May10, 2023.
