Great Allegheny Passage

well maintained trail, beautiful scenery

October, 2025 by cjb1937est

Just got done this trail 10/9. Gap trail is a wonderful easy ride. Places we stayed were awesome! Bright Morning B&B, Ohiopyle suites. We stayed in the Karly. It was great! Right off the trail!! Coffee shop is great too. They also have a laundromat. We then traveled to Meyersdale where we stayed in the hotel airstream! Gotta stay here! It was great! Know that if you need to take the train back to Pittsburgh like we had too, it can run late. 5hrs for us. We met so many nice people along the way. That’s what I think of when I think of this trail!

Deckers Creek Rail-Trail

Steady climb

September, 2025 by arlene.deardorff

We just rode this trail and it had lots of leaves. It was hard to look at the creek and waterfalls as we had to keep our head down on the many ridges. There are no immediate restrooms along the trail. We got off at Masonville and was directed to Ace Hardware where they had 2 restrooms at the back of the store. We ate at Subway in Reedsville but that was not easy getting there. There is a garden cafe nearby but it’s open Friday-Sunday.

Westmoreland Heritage Trail

absolutely beautiful

September, 2025 by amerchristophers

We rode the trail end of September 2025. Gorgeous day cool temps & sunny. Later in the day it got warmer but this trail has plenty of shade. Fallen leaves all over the trail made it so beautiful. Since we don’t have a fall season in Fla. we were embracing the beauty in front of us. We rode 8.5 miles one way. It’s a must do when you’re in the area.

Great Allegheny Passage

great trail for a beginner trail rider

September, 2025 by lob4fun

We just finished the GAP trail & C&O towpath 9/20 from Pittsburgh to DC. We took 8 days and our days ranged between 32 miles to 63 miles. Highly recommend this trail. Well maintained, accessible and clean port a John’s, always had plenty of toilet paper and were frequent enough to remove any anxiety about not being able to relieve yourself in privacy. Potable water was available along the trail which we still used a filter just to be safe. Beautiful trail, friendly riders and towns to visit. We rented a full sized SUV in DC and dropped it off at the Budget on Stanwix St just two blocks from fountain starting point. Worked perfectly to get going on our ride without delay.

Armstrong Trail

I started in Ford City and rode all the way up to the Brady Tunnel. The tunnel has overhead lights but I would bring a headlight just in case. Pack drinks and snacks because there is nothing else till you get to Bradys Bend if you go that far .Make sure you have a spare inner tube just in case. The trail is very well maintained some paved sections in Kittanning have a lot of tree roots sticking up…. The Bike Lab in Kittanning 724 -919-0308 is a newer bicycle shop in town .There is a Foxes Pizza right along the trail in town plus a Dunkin Donuts.

Great Allegheny Passage

Great ride on a great trail.

I just completed the entire GAP. It was well worth it. The trail was in good shape and there was not too much traffic. I’d like to do it again.

Brooke Pioneer Trail

Pleasant Trail

September, 2025 by pturner2

We were passing through the area and looking for a trail to ride for a couple of hours. The Brooke Pioneer trail was nice. For the mostpart away from roads with the Ohio River to the west. It merged into the Wheeling Heritage Trail seamlessly. IMO its not a destination trail but very nice for a 25 mile ride RT while in the area. We didn't do all of the Wheeling Heritage trail due to time limits but enjoyed what we did. (We raced a tugboat pushing a barge upstream and won!) (bragging rights - no prizes)

Conotton Creek Trail

Very Nice!!

September, 2025 by pturner2

My wife was running a 5K in Moundsville, WV and we camped at Barckcamp State Park. On the way home to Akron we stopped and did the Conotton Trail. We did it about 10 years ago but didnt remember much. It was a delightful trail; good asphalt, pastoral country scenery, mostly shady.

We were pulling our 65lb dog in a trailer and we passed someone pulling a 108lb Rottweiler in a trailer (neither on ebikes) and enjoyed the interaction.

Recommend parking at Jewett. It's a large parking area and easy to find. (perfect since we had a trailer. Bowerstown has room for 1-2 cars at the trailhead.

It was a beautiful drive through the rolling hills of SE Ohio on a stunning late summer day with blue skies, warm temperatures and the fall colors starting to come out. It's a little out of the way but if you are passing by with your bikes and have a couple of hours its worth it. Or if you're staying in the area and are looking for a nice, easy bike path you won't be disappointed.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

trail ride

September, 2025 by rgtg9mpg28

This trail is a hidden gem. Excellent ride to Lisbon today and back. 25 miles round trip give or take. I saw 9 deers and several brave squirrels darted around my tires. If you get a chance, ride this trail

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

A biking favorite!

August, 2025 by khswy7bn2p

Nice, well maintained, and a variety of uses. We bike, but we have seen skaters, bikers, joggers, walkers, wagons, and strollers. The little covered bridge is a nice stop in Teegarden. Nice mix of shade and sun. Definitely recommend

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

Best trail in Columbiana County.

August, 2025 by tswilliammee

Nice, well maintained trail. The section from Lisbon to Teegarden is especially beautiful, although there is a bushier section that is on road, albeit a less traveled back road. A short detour at Teegarden will take you to a covered bridge.

Armstrong Trails

Brady Tunnel Open, Trail Closure at Mahoning, Great Trail

July, 2025 by vicki1960

The Brady Tunnel opened Fall 2024 following renovation. Very dark inside (due to its doors) so you need a light. Trail closure at mile marker 55 at Mahoning Creek (since April 2025) You can detour by using nearby road, road bridge and grass path to reconnect to the trail. We parked at the Redbank trailhead on Redbank Road, just past St. Marys Redbank church. This is the intersection of Redbank Tr mile 0 and the Armstrong Tr approx mile 63. Trail surface is crushed limestone. Some of it very well packed down, some of it washed away leaving nothing but packed dirt, and some of the trail is double tracked. We didn't have any trouble on our hybrids. We went South to Mahoning and turned around and up to the Brady Tunnel passing the Redbank Coaling Tower. We went though the tunnel and continued approx 5 miles through the Sarah Furnace area. We also went towards East Brady passed the Phillipston turntable. Nearest trail services are in East Brady, otherwise you're on your own. Trail mostly shaded, follows the Allegheny River. Very peaceful., scenic and historic. See photos. Our next plan is to ride another segment of the trail.
