Pretty trail but you can hear traffic noise for most of the time. Part of the time it is not very loud. The suspension bridge is fun but it does bounce a lot so if you have balance issues, it could be a problem.
Enjoyed the walk on this trail. Very unique with houses, businesses and trees on the way. We found this trail ok but it sure is easier when there is an address.
Not a fan. Poor to non-existant signage - extremely difficult to follow. Some stretches of sidewalk, some bike lanes, some dedicated bike paths - none of which connect smoothly. Rode four frustrating miles and turned around.
Nice trail, mostly uphill from the Neuse.
parked at the nature center (bathrooms!) and walked to the right on the advice of a local that that was the prettier way to go (it was lovely) - took about a mile to get to the river - did 1.75 one way for a 3.5 mile walk - we were driving GA to NJ on 95 and we took the ten minute detour off the highway to break up the drive with a nice walk - WELL WELL worth it ! - would like to come back with the bike someday and see the whole trail
I live in Rocky Mount and so many locals don't realize this trail connects many of the parks in the city. It is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. They have added off path bike trails as well as a Frisbee golf course in Battle Park.
Very nice trail, however, you cannot currently get to the river walk trail as there is construction which has closed the trail about three quarters of the way there.
I’ve walked this trail many times. It goes along side the Catawba River. Most of it is shady in the summer so that is nice. It is paved and almost totally flat. Part of it is close to a busy road so you can hear the traffic noise.
This was my first time on this trail. My husband and I are 72 but love to take walks. The part we were on was wooded with houses around. We parked at the library parking lot. The beginning of the trail at this entrance goes downhill. The rest of the trail that we walked was flat. I say this because my husband has arthritis in his knees and it makes it hard for him to go up and down hills. Of course, when you go down you must come back up at the end of your walk! Loved the trail and will be back.
Nice paved trail that meanders alongside the river. Only slight grades up or down-otherwise near flat. On this Saturday there were more walkers, joggers and dog walkers than bikes. Not crowded but you would see people every few minutes along the ride. Will return.
Town of Cary is relocating this greenway north of Dynasty Drive to eliminate a streetside stretch. When I walked it in December, there was a longer streetside detour following Dynasty in the opposite direction, then returning via Cary Parkway to the trailhead on that street. There is also ongoing sewer reconstruction that may require streetside detours between Dynasty and Lake Crabtree.
I liked this trail. It is flat, smooth and a good length. There was no trash. Liked the wooded area. It does go by some houses but not real close. There are several road crossings but most of them were not busy streets. My husband and I were the only people on the trail but it was a chilly weekday.
