Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

Access Lewisburg parking off N. 15th just north of Wilson Alley

June, 2021 by ladyalchimia

Started at the Lewisburg end. Great trail, with moderately heavy traffic on a mid-June day. Ideal for my hybrid bike. As others have said, there are lots of road crossings. In the rural areas, be prepared for some dusty riding, as farm machinery crosses the trail frequently. Others have mentioned that the RT splits in Lewisburg, forcing you to cross a 4-lane highway; if you want to avoid that, park, as we did, just off N. 15th St., as there is a nice parking area for trail users, as well as a restroom. On the day I was there, a pop-up food stand greeted me when I finished my out-and-back. It's an urban area, so watch out for cars—speed limits seem to be mere guidelines in PA (I say this as a Pennsylvanian). Even pedestrians don't seem particularly safe from drivers.

Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

Smooth ride and Great Views

June, 2021 by zm00707

Rode this today and was amazed how friendly the trail is. Parking in Columbia was easy, but believe you can say the same for multiple points along the trail too, but in Columbia you do finish right next door to an ice cream parlor. The trail itself is paved and a smooth ride. The views of the river are excellent. The crowds are there on the weekend, but every person I came across was accommodating to the various levels of riders, walkers, and runners. There are a couple no passing zones, but only a few short turns until you’ll have a chance to pass. Can’t believe I’ve never been here before, but will definitely be back.

Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

Great macadam trail.

June, 2021 by bygsky

Great trail. Most people respectful and follow the rules. You do get the occasional knucklehead that doesn’t announce their approach though. There is a street crossover in Columbia that can get busy and confusing to everyone. There is a pedestrian right of way that cars don’t pay attention.

Red Lion Mile

Improved

June, 2021 by river4dreams

Although just a mile, Red Lion Borough has extended the trail for it’s full ‘Red Lion Mile’ ! Starts as hard pack finely gravelled surface, which turns into new pavement. Near the end is a small section of paved switchback to negotiate a slope, ending near Springwood Rd and a stone cave. Mostly wooded, although the switchback is open with no trees, it’s a nice dog walking, scooter riding path for post-Easter dinner stroll this year - 2021 post pandemic. ¿¿

Penns Creek Path (Mid State Trail)

good trail

May, 2021 by mike.love

Hiked the trail on May 27, 2021. Trail is pleasant , well shaded and fairly flat. We started from the east side and the railroad tunnel was on the far west side. We enjoyed the trail for its connection to nature. We saw a few animals including snakes and a turtle. Penn’s Creek is great at all points. Recommend.

Conewago Recreation Trail

Trees Down

May, 2021 by lindalimecarroll

We rode Sunday, May 2. Don't start your ride until Old Hershey Road. Numerous trees were across the trail the first mile and 1/2. I think there may have been 5. There was also one that you had to ride under. The trail wasn't in the best condition. A fair amount of loose gravel in some spots. Your best bet would be to stick to the Lebanon Valley Trail until they clean this up. It was in better condition.

Fielding Belt Trail

Nice ride in the country

May, 2021 by wkn2qcdmdh

My wife and I biked this trail on May 2, 2021. It was sunny, 85 degrees and breezy. There were a lot of people walking in pairs, walking dogs and a few small groups riding bikes. The trail connects two parks and winds through open fields. We started in town and rode to both parks and circled both. Going out we had the wind in our face most of the time, but it felt good since there was little shade due to the early spring and the leaves were not all out on the trees and a lot of the trail is in the open. There are beautiful views of the mountains and country side. The trail is flat in places, and there are a few gentle inclines. It is mostly packed gravel. There are a few places around the parks that are paved. But the main trail is gravel. There arerestrooms at the parks.

Conewago Recreation Trail

storm damage

March, 2021 by joelkring

We rode from the Lebanon Valley trail onto the Conewago trail on March 27th. There were two trees partially blocking the trail between mile marker 5 and 3, there were 2 trees across the trail that we were able to carry our bikes over between mm 3 and 2.5 and there was a large tree totally blocking the trail near mm 2. I don't know if there was more storm damage as we could not get past the down tree near mile marker 2. FYI, the Lebanon Valley trail was clear from mile 0 to at least mile 14.

Swatara Rail-Trail

Just beautiful this time of the year

March, 2021 by karobino

If you are looking for something a little different with variation of trail bedding, this is it! Just enough of a challenge for a workout. Absolutely loved the views and now one of my favorite pa trails. If you are looking for an easy ride for the 10 miles, this is not it. So much to see and a few little side trails for exploring. So another visit can give different experience. Can’t wait to tackle this one again.
