Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

June 6th 2019 - Great trail - Wish there was more.

June, 2019 by alipine

Walked portions of this trail in the past. It has gotten longer.

Spent couple of hours riding End to End and back.

Started at the Millway crossing parking area. Good parking with PortaJohn. Millway and Rothsville Rd.

Ride into Ephrata is paved and lighted. Portions of the trail open in the evening. Some portions Dawn-Dusk. Warwick Township portion is mostly packed gravel - in good condition.

Lititz Bikeworks provides a Bike Rental kiosk at Warwick Township Facility.

It's a do-over. I'll be back.

Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

Wonderful time experiencing farm land and rural area on a beautiful day

June, 2019 by keeperbordner

My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful weather and rural landscape. Passed many friendly people along the way. Bathroom facilities at each end of the 9 mile Trail. Shaded by tree lined trail broken up with sunny open field areas along the way. Great places for a snack/meal either in Mifflinburg or Lewisburg. Also an Amish "serve yourself" stand midway to pick up some lemonade or a whoopie pie. A country treat.
We are very fortunate to have this great local RTT.
I did not give a 5 star rating because the restroom facilities in Lewisburg were in poor condition and the facilities in Mifflinburg were locked but replaced with a "port-a-potty".

Heritage Trail (PA)

close to other trails

June, 2019 by joelkring

We rode this trail starting at the small parking area along Valley Road. After finishing the short 2.2 mile out and back ride we continued over mostly very quiet neighborhood streets to the Landis Valley Farm and rode the Manheim Twp. Bikeway then another short road section to the Kissel Hill Commons Trail and finally a trail along the Landis Run Intermediate School and finally another short road section back to our car. The whole ride was about 8 miles. There are other short trails nearby, some named some you really need to look closely to find on the maps. The trails are mostly through parks or between well kept homes with a short wooded section and a nice open wetland. Fun exploring these short trails.

Manheim Township Community Park Trail

Nice short ride through park

May, 2019 by joelkring

We parked at the south end of the park, just off Petersburg Road. There are indoor restrooms (very clean) near the parking area. We rode to the north end of the park then took mostly very quiet, neighborhood streets to the Brighton-Reidenbauch Park Trails about 1.5 miles away. There is a short section of busy roads (Koser Road and Buckwalter Road) but its less than 1/2 mile. The whole ride on both trails and the road sections, out and back was just 7.3 miles. There are several other short trails nearby and they're all worth a look.

Brighton-Reidenbaugh Park Trail

Short gem

May, 2019 by joelkring

We rode the three short sections of trail and the very quiet neighborhood streets that connected them late on a Wednesday morning. We saw more people walking dogs then we did cars on the street sections. We also rode to the nearby Manheim Township Community Park Trail about 1.5 miles away. There were two busy roads, Buchwalter Road and Koser Road, together they totaled less than 1/2 mile, the rest of the road section was very quiet neighborhood streets. These trails are just minutes (by car) to several other short trails that dot that area. Our total ride was just 7.3 miles. I can't wait to take some of my biking friends on these short but sweet trails.

This is a beautiful ride from Newville to Shippensburg! The trail is well maintained an offers scenic views of woodland and picturesque farmlands. We will definitely be back!

Warwick Township Linear Park Trail

Close to other trails

May, 2019 by joelkring

We rode from the Lititz-Warwick Trailway (AKA Newport Square Public Trail) off of the Lititz to Ephrata trail about 1.5 miles on roads to get to this trail. There is ample parking at the trail as well as restrooms. Take the gravel spur trail to the wetland overlook. The trail is not well marked where it crosses Laurie Lane. Just one of many scenic short trails in the area.

Butterfly Acres Trail

close to the Lititz to Ephrata trail

May, 2019 by joelkring

This delightful short trail is about 0.8 miles through a quiet neighborhood from the Lititz end of the trail from Ephrata. While you're in the area don't miss the Warwick Twp. Linear Park Trail or the Newport Square Public Trail. Lancaster County has a plethora of short trails, we have spent several days trying to ride them all.

Lebanon Valley Rail-Trail

Main portion of trail still ends at Rt 422 in Lebanon

May, 2019 by royhoffer

As of May 18, 2019, trail appears to still end at Rt 422 in Lebanon. There was a sign on the North side of 422 saying "trail ends" or similar.

Hence, the posted photo of a white bridge:
"Lebanon Valley Rail Trail
This tunnel carries the Jonestown segment of the trail under Route 22. As of 2018, this is the north end of the trail. No connection to the road has yet been built.

appears to be in error as of this date, as there is not yet a clear path to continue north of Rt 422. Perhaps the trail does begin again somewhere north of Rt 422, but it wasn't obvious to me from the location of the intersection of the trail and Rt 422.

I hope this helps.

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

Peaceful with a lot to see along the trail.

May, 2019 by trdibble

We started in Ephrata at the parking lot near the monument. It took 2.5 hours to ride the whole thing.

Nice mix of hills, scenery, and pull offs to rest.
Lots of road crossings, but most people stopped for us.

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

Update

April, 2019 by 1972hawk

This trail is now open from Lititz to Ephrata. Construction on the bridge in the center is complete. The trail is paved at both ends and gravel in the center. I rode the entire trail on my road bike and had no problem with the gravel section, but I might not be able to say that shortly after a rain.
