Luce Line Trail

Open to the west of Winstead

October, 2019 by tonywlazlo

Luce line is now paved from Cty Rd 1 in Winstead along the airport runway and reconnects to the existing trail.

Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail

Avoid this trail!

September, 2019 by wendylee

I'm giving this trail a one-star rating for it's current stage of chaos. Avoid it if you can. This is an otherwise great trail; however, the southwest light rail project makes it next to impossible to enjoy. I would avoid this trail until the project is done AND until the western end of the trail is repaired, which has been in disrepair for years!

Elm Creek Park Reserve Trails

wonderful

Great paved trails with rolling hills that present a good workout but are very doable. We spent a day here with our kids and they loved biking the trials.

Lake Wobegon Trail

Casual friendly and easy ride

August, 2019 by jimgleason5

Great ride out of St Joseph’s to Albany, pick up the Soo line and ride to the covered bridge. Round trip ride is right at 50 miles of fairly flat and straight, well maintained asphalt trail. Few road crossings and wide path in scenic farm country. Everything you would expect from a rural trail - but in great condition!

Luce Line Trail

Resurfacing West of Winstead

6-25-2019 trail west of Winstead getting thick, heavy asphalt resurfacing. Can't get past the heavy machinery just outside of town.

North Cedar Lake Regional Trail/Cedar Lake Trail

Nice trip

June, 2019 by djwolter

This is easy to get on in Hopkins and a nice rail trail right to the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. The trail needs some surface work in a few places, but it’s mostly in excellent condition.

Elm Creek Park Reserve Trails

High quality trail.

June, 2019 by mbollom

Very nice surface. The trail twists and turns, dips and rises though a variety of habitat. You can ride for an hour without crossing a road. Wonderful experience.

Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail

Nice trail through small towns and suburbs and nature!

June, 2019 by djwolter

I started at trail's end in Carver. Make sure to park by the Casey's store as there isn't much more farther down. There is a section of this trail (between 101 and Pioneer Trail) that is closed. The detour is noted miles before you see you can't get through, so pay attention to that. The detour also takes you on some roads, so be prepared for that. Lovely when you get about midway through.

Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail

Beautiful route with diverse landscapes

June, 2019 by djwolter

This is one of my favorite trails in the Twin Cities. You get on in downtown Hopkins and ride through some relatively dense urban area. It quickly transforms into beautiful green space with lakes and nice homes. Passing through Excelsior and Deephaven, you get the full feel of Lake Minnetonka as well. The trail ends in Victoria after a nice ride through some rural prairie land. The trail is well kept, hard-pressed gravel, with good crossings.

Medicine Lake Regional Trail

Started this trail at the southern end. Mostly trails through developments. Not well marked until you get to the northern part. Lots of winding, up and down hills. Wooded, and some wooden bridges. We biked 40 miles to Elm creek preserve and back.

Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail

Hopkins Depot to Victoria

May, 2019 by chrisw1

This is a great ride _except_ there are no public water stops. Carry all you'll need. That said, the 318 cafe in Excelsior (roughly half way between Hopkins and Victoria) is a fine stopping point. Good food and drink and a cool patio. It's right on the trail. Excelsior has many good restaurants and at least one brewery as well, but they're off trail a little. Victoria is the next place (west) for refreshments at the end of the trail.

The round trip (Hopkins Depot to Victoria and back) is about 30 miles. It's flat and shady--mostly crushed limestone over old rail bed.

You can branch off to Carver Park just before you get to Victoria which has its own paved bike trails, water, restrooms and campsites and is delightfully scenic.
