Been riding this trail last couple of weeks and have seen several gopher turtles and snakes but this morning just east of Rotunda Dr. a cougar ran across the trail right in front of me..
I recommend parking at the Sanibel Community Park 2231 Periwinkle Way it’s a hidden spot, also has bathrooms. I would recommend going through JN Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. It’s $1 dollar for bikes and you have to check out the bathrooms on the second floor very cool murals.
Parking can be expensive and scarce on sanibel. Park for free at the Ding Darling visitors center, pay $1to ride through the refuge and spend the rest of the day biking around the island
Started trail from Colonial Boulevard and completed entire trail. Nice wide, flat paths that cross the canal with bridges along the way. Water is crystal clear, no odors; did see lots of turtles, herons and ducks. A great trail between two very busy streets for a tranquil ride. Not very many people on the day we went. If you're in the area, just do it!
Path has been repaired so it is in good condition and mostly smooth. Path parallels busy road but it's nice to have a long stretch separated from traffic. From the community pool it's 7.5 mile to Bokeelia to the north and 9.0 mile to St. James City to the south. Ride to the north was more interesting, passing by numerous nurseries growing a variety of palms and tropical fruit trees. Water view in Bokeelia was short but great!
Took off early afternoon on a cool sunny Saturday. Trail was very nice, crossed over the canal on a few bridges, saw lots of waterfowl. Minimal traffic on trail with a few busy road crossings with crosswalks. A very enjoyable ride total 12.6 miles or so.
This is a side walk and it’s mostly in disarray. At some points you can only travel 70 ft before slowing or stopping at driveways. Not recommended
This is a great trail that gives you many options. You can do the boardwalk and loop back to parking lot about 3.5 miles. You can venture further and go watch the private jets take off at the nearby Naples Airport. Baker Park is two or three miles away and has many recreational facilities and activities. We went to Baker Park and then used the municipal bike lane straight to the Naples Beach. The homes along the city route were stunning. Round trip we went 12 miles and had a great time and stopped for lunch at the Naples Pub off 10 Street.
A pleasant ride. We were there New Years Eve. It may be because of the holiday but there are many golf carts with under age drivers. Only one cart announced their presence when passing. I recommend it but you better keep your eye on your mirror. South Beach is a good restaurant for lunch. .
Beautiful, relaxing ride. Scenic ride. Make sure you have a bell to warn walkers you are passing on the left. If golden gate parking is full, you can park off of Goddlette- Frank BLVD near the zoo.
Cool trail with several nice bridges over the Gordon river and a new bridge to Baker Park. Can add a few more miles to the ride by going past the end of the trail past the Naples airport
