Green Lane to Schwenksville

June, 2021 by jeffrey.snyder55

Started in Green Lane Park main parking area, went the wrong way and came to the end of the trail. Turned around and headed south. Beginning of the trail is a bit confusing, so I would recommend starting at Snyder Road and Deep Creek Road. Trail from there is great. Mostly well packed gravel and some paved sections. Ride is along the creek and is very scenic and mostly flat. I say mostly because there is a steep hill in Spring Mount by a small ski area. The hill is tough riding from North to South, 12 percent grade going up. We turned around in Schwenksville after ice frexx as m at a small restaurant on the trss as I’m. I really enjoyed this trail s as nd will return to ride further, we road on a 90 degree day and and found it too difficult to go further.

John Heinz Refuge Trail

mixed review, depending on which section

June, 2021 by pattreat

The John Heinz at Tinicum is excellent at the northern end, around the lake and back. Beautiful with abundant wildlife, especially birds. I haven’t seen the middle section because I can’t walk that far. But, parking at the southern end and walking northeast was horrible and I’ll never do that again. It is too close to the road and the noise from interstate 95 was so loud we couldn’t converse. We tried to come back a different way, but because of the rains and lack of bridges, or even boards, we were in water up to our knees.

Michael Castle Trail

Beautiful!

June, 2021 by jdrussell11

Great setting on a well maintained trail. Scenery included the canal, numerous bridges, birds and boats. GRAIN has a bar/restaurant right next to the water about halfway and the trail is bookended by Schaeffer’s Canal house to the west and Crabby Dicks to the east. Mostly flat with a few short elevation changes, including the switchbacks at the marina. Also has numerous lots for entry along the way.

Paulinskill Valley Trail

Highly Recommended Trail

May, 2021 by twarren9

I rode this trail near the end of May and thoroughly enjoyed the ride on my mountain bike. The trail cuts through a very small airport and passes lots of farmland. I started at Blairstown Footbridge Park and headed west to the end of the trail and back. (About 15 miles total). Heard two roosters, accidentally flushed a juvenile Bald Eagle and saw four Eastern Bluebirds too. No black bears but I did see a black squirrel! A beautiful ride!

Smooth and Safe Ride

May, 2021 by normanbowers

Trail is smooth as it gets. Trail seamlessly connects to Wilmington River Walk. No water or restroom on trail. Suggest parking at trailhead just east of 1101 Delaware St, New Castle and ride both ways.
At the south end a few blocks of street riding south on South Street will connect to the Battery Park Trail.

Smooth and Safe

May, 2021 by normanbowers

Nice ride, smooth pavement and safe area, just a few road crossings so goes fast. Parking areas have restrooms but no water. At west end in Maryland Schaefers has good sea food and beer.

Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

Nice Trail except in downtown Trenton

May, 2021 by normanbowers

The trail in downtown Trenton is poorly maintained and not well marked. I got lost in an area that you don't want to spend a lot of time. There is not much to see downtown so it would be my recommendation to avoid this area. The rest of the trail is a nice gravel ride with good scenery and few road crossings.

Calhoun Street Bridge

Walking Trail Only

May, 2021 by normanbowers

The D & L Trail passes very close (100 ft.) to the bridge on the Pennsylvania side. A sign on the bridge requires bikes to be walked, and the bridge attendant enforces this rule. On the New Jersey side the trail ends at the east end of the bridge and there is no safe way to traverse the three blocks to the trail along the canal. I guess it is a nice stop while biking the D & L Trail.

Upper Bucks Rail Trail

short but sweet

May, 2021 by joelkring

We started our ride in Hellertown on the Saucon trail that joins the Upper Bucks trail and also the Walnut Bank Farm trail. It is obvious that this is a newly finished trail and they did a great job! Due to a recent lack of rain the crushed stone trails were quite dusty. If you don't mind a couple of road sections you can ride from the Hunters Crossing and Brayton Gardens trails all of the way to Bethlehem, where you can pick up the D&L Trail to Easton or even as far as Washington's Crossing.

Walnut Bank Farm Trail

Little more than a sidewalk

We started our ride in Hellertown on the Saucon Rail Trail that now connects to the Upper Bucks Rail Trail and then the Walnut Bank Farm Trail. There is a short connector trail between Veterans Park and the Walnut Bank Farm trail. Most of this trail is just a sidewalk and not a very wide sidewalk at that. after almost colliding with an oncoming rider we decided that the road was safer and smoother than the sidewalk. When the trail turned away from the road it was wider and asphalt as it passed briefly through a wooded area. the last several hundred yards were quite bumpy. We then rode paths through Krupps Park and around the Quakertown Sports Complex before a short road section to get to the Hunters Crossing Trail and Brayton Gardens Trail.

I am a beginner and ride this trail twice this weekend. Well maintained good ride for a beginner and as you grow. Easy access and great access to the Saucon trail. Will definitely be riding again and would recommend to any type of rider.

Great spot for younger bike riders

The gravel on the upper rail line trail is small so it’s easy on training wheels!
