Road the Kane Knox Trail starting in Kane down to DeYoung and back before taking a break and then doing the bit north to the current stopping point near the Kane Country Club.
The path is exceptionally maintained. Easily bikeable on any type of type of bike due to the surface being primarily asphalt.
The trail was lightly traveled for a Saturday so had no issues with traffic on the trail.
We made a stop at Country Pines Ice Cream Shop on the north stretch out of Kane for extremely good ice cream! Get a "kids" size, the prices are extremely reasonable for the large serving sizes.
Post the ~25 mile ride we went to Logyard Brewing in town for a great beer and snack.
We rode this trail from the Forest County line (at Blood Road) to Marienville and back. This section is 6.5 miles in length. Flat and paved for 6 miles of it, the last half-mile into Marienville is crushed limestone in very good condition. Most of the trail is very well shaded. The former train station in Marienville is a Pennsylvania Wilds Gift shop open daily. Near the trail in Marienville is a UK University Korner convenience store. They have water if needed, sandwiches, fruit and pizza. Found it to be very clean.
An ABSOLUTELY beautiful trail! We are SO glad we listened to friends and have this a try. Well worth the hour+ drive from Clearfield! We'll be back!!
First the cons: A roughie. A lot of undeveloped trail here. Need a mountain bike. No skinny tires here. Don`t travel alone on this the way I did. Lots of "close ones."
The pluses: Tremendous potential here. Beautiful area. A hats off to the individuals who are pioneering and working on this. HEROS in my book. No doubt at all. Get the money. Contact township, county officials, feds. Set up meetings with them. Get a good grant writer Get the $$.
You can take your bike and you on the ATA bus from Saint Marys to Emporium trail head. This will give you the full day to ride or walk back to Saint Marys. Time departure 7:49am price $1.25.
Loved this trail. The metal statues are such a nice addition and good reason to take a brief rest. Plenty of places for a picnic. Trails are well maintained. Great views throughout the trail. Historical information provided is interesting. Will definitely do this trail again.
Great trail! Ate lunch at The Sawmill in Leeper and then enjoyed a pint at Lost In the Wilds. Very fun!
This trail is paved and just beautiful. Through woods and fields. Highly recommend & we will be back!
I rode my bike from Allens Mills to Arch St Extension and back. There has been much improvement to the trail since last autumn! The trail has been rolled and the rough clinky rocks were not a problem. Much smoother. It was a wonderful ride. The beavers have been busy this spring performing maintenance on their dams. There are 2 large beaver ponds on the trail. I love this trail and will return again and again!
If you biking on the trail and were disappointed with the surface please try it again. We graded last year and it was rolled this spring.
There are a lot of wetlands, making it somewhat unique, but also buggy. Wear a repellant to make your ride/walk more enjoyable.
We are in the process of placing mile markers and installed two flower beds and some geocaches.
We put name markers on the bridges to match the map and help you to locate. We have a kiosk with brochures at the Allens Mills trailhead.
Please sign the log with your comments if you want. Please add your zip code.
We try to keep fallen trees off the trail but the beavers are very busy.
Happy trails!
First ride on this trail—totally enjoyable! Rode from Brookville S White St trailhead to Hanover…approx 38 miles rt. Highly recommend. Well maintained, nice surface, scenic, clean restrooms, and all that stuff.
