I walk, speedwalk, and jog in multiple places in the area. I've been to this location, and I thought it was wonderful, it's well maintained, and there are benches for resting along the way if need be. I enjoy the trail itself, but I also enjoy the nature atmosphere it provides. In my opinion, it's a place that I would enjoy exercising at anytime, and I would happily recommend it if I was asked about it.
My wife and I ride our tandem on a week long trip with Bubbas Pampered Pedalers and finished today. The trail is very nice and overall well maintained. The trail heads have pit toilets at least and the small towns are very interesting and trail friendly. It’s pretty dusty this time of year, but that’s a minor inconvenience when riding such a great trail. I’d highly recommend this trail, but definitely choose when to come as there’s plenty of hot weather and early season flooding too. We were blessed with perfect weather this past week.
No matter how many people are out using the trail, there's always more trails to take to get away from the traffic. Love it.
Sorry for the cobbled review below. My screen froze up. This is a really nice trail and it is well-maintained. There’s lots of shade and it goes through a nice area. I definitely recommend this trail.
I started on the nature trail around the corner horseshoe Lake and did a loop and connected to this trail. I really enjoyed it. Lots of shade and nice scenery. It backs up to some nice houses and a good area. Not a lot of people on a trail and even though it was in the 90s, it didn’t feel that hot because of the shade. The trail is really well maintained. What the are parks and various stores and things right off the trail. I recommend doing a
The trail is pretty nice once you get closer to Edwardsville. It actually has the least amount of nature of the trails, but it works. It goes through some industrial areas and there’s not a whole lot of scenery until you start getting close to Edwardsville. The pavement is in good shape mostly it’s not an A trail but it’s a B for sure. Not much shade in most parts. The trail that connects to all the other trails so you don’t have to do out and back. You can jump on and hit the nickel trail loop. It is really nice.
Wonderful flat paved trail in the full sun ¿
The bridge over IL 111 is nearly done and it is looking awesome. This will take out a dangerous road crossing and let us fly down the trail.
Just took the family (with two kids, a 3yo who I pulled in a trailer behind my bike, and a 9yo who had negligible experience off pavement) to ride a portion in mid March 2026. I wasn't sure how flat it was so I was concerned for how my 9yo would handle it. We explored about 18 miles east and west of Augusta and also went west from Marthasville about halfway to Treloar. Trail was really flat, pretty smooth, and a good introduction to a different trail surface for our 9yo. We had some issues with the wind and not being there during tourist season, but still had a good time and I hope we can make it back when our 3yo is big enough to pedal it.
