There aren’t crosswalks for all of the road crossings so you have to go to the nearest intersection instead. Nice, flat trail that ends in a park and was an easy ride for the kids. Buildings near by have all kinds of industrial smells, so it’s not the nicest bike trail in the world, but it’s good for the area.
Nice ride, stared from riding up hill from Lancaster to Palmdale. The way back was Speeds up to 25 mph. Get to see a Joshua Trees and enjoyed the desert scenery.
Trail goes through traffic, sewer areas, and has some dirt paths. It’s also not clear where to park. Wouldn’t advice using the trail in late hours of the day. Surrounded by sewer areas and power lines. Not my idea of a peaceful walk/bike ride. This area has much better cities and paths that can be explored.
I took this route a couple Saturdays ago. I started in El Monte which had lots of parking and right onto the path you go. The trail was smooth and fun. You only have to cross the street in Montebello from Whittier Narrows. The trail was debris free all the way to Downey. I would take this ride again and want to continue it to Long Beach.
The old Petro Chem plant which is pictured in the main photo is now (Oct. 2020) being cleaned up. The area is almost cleared and cleaned. What an improvement. Time for a new feature photo.
I started at the Foster Park trailhead. At least on a Wednesday afternoon there was plenty of parking under the bridge just before you get to the trailhead. I was on an ebike and it was an easy uphill cruise, with a gentle slope, all the way to Ojai. When reaching Ojai I would recommend turning around at Montgomery Street. Trail gets pretty junky for the few hundred yards after that. Few
This trail is absolutely amazing. You get a shoreline ride through every beach from Torrance to Santa Monica. We did the entire trail yesterday round trip and it was well worth the 40 mile loop! Will definitely go again
I ride my electric scooter on this trail and I love it. The distance is perfect for me. I ride from Madera to Erringer, stop at the park, and ride back. Very enjoyable. I recommend it ¿¿¿¿
I recommend getting started in the morning a weekday preferably. Both Venice and Santa Monica are absolutely stunning in the morning and are quite peaceful with lots to see. Marina del Rey and Ballona creek have some of the best scenery of any path I’ve been on the ocean is clear and the marina itself is beautiful. The path is doable and you get an amazing view of the beaches in la
Great trail, can get busy but it’s one of my go to trails for a pleasant ride
