Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail

not impressed

September, 2021 by jiggs1960

We rode this portion of the D&R trail two years ago, and thought we'd do it again yesterday. Started at the trail head along Carnegie Road at Lawrenceville, and rode for about 2 1/2 miles going north-east (we were plaining on doing 20 out and 20 back) . That was enough to decide to pack it up, and go to another trail closer to home. I guess, because of the heavy rains we had in August/September, to repair wash-outs, they just threw very fine gravel down, not packed, and in many places about 2" thick. It made for miserable riding on our cyclocross bikes with 32mm tires. Whoever is in charge of the trail maintenance needs to educate themselves of proper materials and techniques to be used for the trail repairs. Maybe it got better as you got further away from Lawrenceville, but we weren't going to chance it. A real shame, it used to be a great trail.

Unami Creek Trail

Nice quiet trail!

We enjoyed this quiet mostly shaded trail! Took our 2 dogs. I like that it’s paved, pretty scenery, not real busy.

Jack A. Markell Trail

A nice ride around the city

September, 2021 by m.p.schneider.lc

THe trail is well maintained, well-marked and relatively scenic. It almost gets five stars but it has a lot of awkward turns and blind corners in the top half of the trail and has some odd things where it appears to have access but there's a big fence without a pedestrian opening for no apparent reason.

Warwick-to-Ephrata Rail-Trail

Ephrata side CLEAN/ Warwick side DIRTY

September, 2021 by jwatts_tl

Ephrata side of trail is paved and clean. Warwick side has Small crushed limestone that just cakes on chains and bikes. This is the only local trail I ride that I have to wash the bike when done.

Another downside is the 11 road crossing that can be very challenging depending on time of day. With 2 of the worst traffic crossings on the Warwick Side.

202 Parkway Trail

Although the trail is noisy because of its proximity to Rt. 202, it is beautifully maintained, asphalt all the way and offers pleasant views. Very hilly headed south but fun downhills on the northward journey.

John Heinz Refuge Trail

wonderful resource

September, 2021 by jules251.business

Great trail system with lots of wonderful habitat especially for birds. Tried the west entrance off 420 and there is lots of construction going on. It could really use better signage at that end. Once I figured out where I was supposed to be it was a nice flat gravel route.

Little Lehigh Parkway Path

Too Loud

September, 2021 by docjedi

Scenery wise, the park is great and the grounds crew keeps it beautiful. The down fall is the sound. There is a shooting range on the park, so its a terrible place to walk a rescue dog. In other locations, its so close to the highway that all you here is traffic.

Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Trail

Nice flat trail for biking, great for kids

September, 2021 by auntsheel

We had a great time on this trail. It’s a mixture of gravel, dirt, and boardwalk. I wouldn’t want to go there soon after a heavy rain because there are patchy areas of mud, but nothing you can’t maneuver around. We took my 7 yo ans 9 yo granddaughters and they had absolutely no problems.

Chester Valley Trail

Nice Labor Day Ride

September, 2021 by sgraham127

Fun outing overall. Smooth asphalt trail and well maintained with lots of shaded areas. Agree some parts were not scenic and were near busy roadways but crossings were safe and clearly marked. Lots of bikers, walkers and families on this trail but majority were friendly as you passed. Even saw a group walking with a large American flag…a great bonus to our Labor Day ride!
