Historic Jungle Trail

Great Scenic Trail

April, 2019 by heochief

WoW, We rode this trail in April on a clear sunny day. My third trail in Florida and this one was my favorite. The scenic value is fantastic. The trail is a sand trail but was well compacted. We started out at the trailhead and instantly we were hit with fantastic sights. A ton of wildlife coupled with tropical vegetation that I could only describe as a tropical dessert. The trail is in between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean and sights of each. The trail is well labeled. Bring extra water on this ride. Not much area for shade. Short ride but I am sure you will find yourself like us and just slowed it down and took it in.

Spring to Spring Trail

Pleasant and well used

April, 2019 by martinf

We rode from the Lake Monroe Park TH at the southern end near I 4 expressway to Gemini Springs. My wife is not an experienced bicyclist and does not ride longer distances or on the road. She loved this trail! It is very scenic with shaded board walks or smooth asphalt surfaces. It is moderately busy with cyclists, walkers and skaters. The people are courteous + unusually friendly. We had several great conversations when asking the locals for information. Past Gemini Springs it becomes more suburban along roads, but the initial portion is mostly wooded. We turned around and drove to Green Spring which is beautiful but emits sulfur odor.

Ponce Inlet Trail

A fun exploration on a hybrid bike

April, 2019 by flatcoatfun

Another trail I hesitated doing because of the short distance, but I was able to create a 12 mile ride loop out of it.

I had considered riding down the sidewalk from Daytona beach to this trail but I was very glad I did not. The sidewalk there is very narrow and lots of dips for driveways, and lots of road crossings. I did park slightly north of the trail head when I found a section of free angle in parking at an area where the sidewalk/trail was much wider. This was in Wilbur. I soon discovered I was only a few blocks from a big parking lot with restrooms on the corner of Toronita and Atlantic ave "Toronita Avenue Park" mid week in off season there was plenty of parking.

There is one entrance to Ponce Preserve along the trail and I stopped to take a photo of the trail map. It looked like a very sandy trail and hot as it was on the interior. Will have to save that for a hiking day.

You can continue all the way down to Lighthouse point park which was fun to explore, it had some interior shady trails, and great views of the inlet. There are boardwalks to the breakwater that people were riding their bikes on. People can park cars on the beach there so it may be hard enough to ride a bike.

I continued back north on S Peninsula drive which was very shady and not much traffic. No problems riding on the road. Soon a sidewalk appeared and I switched over to riding on the small sidewalk. There are several beautiful parks you can access from Peninsula, including Timucuan Oaks Garden a mix of formal garden and then a boarwalk out to a creek, and the other side of Ponce Preserve, but unfortunately their boardwalk out to the intercoastal was closed that day.

It would not be a good ride on a road bike, though I did see some in the streets. If you are out for a casual ride, and have a hybrid or mountain bike there is lots to see and do. Just get off the sidewalk and explore!

East Central Regional Rail Trail

Good Trail

April, 2019 by fdb3

This was the first time I have ridden the trail all the way from New Smyrna Beach to Titusville. Overall the trail is flat, straight, and the pavement excellent. There are very few road crossings in the Volusia County portion of the trail. But in the Brevard County portion, there are many road crossings, some that are very treacherous. Also there are benches along the trail in Volusia County and none in Brevard County. Much of the trail is through the woods and beautiful but as you get to Mims the trail parallels US1 and is not nearly as scenic. Overall, a great place to ride if you use caution on the crossings in Brevard. Being flat and straight, it lacks a signature feature like a tunnel or viaduct. There is really nothing that makes you want to go and ride the trail as a destination. I give it 9 gears on a 10 speed cassette.

Cross Seminole Trail

Not What I Expected At All

April, 2019 by noelparallel

I share the same sentiment of many reviews made already. I will take partial credit for not reading the description of the trail in full detail. I had no idea that the trail disconnects in many places and expands through heavy traffic. I also drove an hour to get to this trail, looking forward to 22.8 miles one way as opposed to 22.8 round trip. Very disappointing.

Kewannee Trail / Greenway Trail South And North + Secret Lake Park

March, 2019 by luisalberto_25

I had a fun day riding and exploring this trail. I picked this trail up right from the Kewannee trail connection followed it then over to the SR436 (Semoran Blvd) crossing) and into Wirz Park and it’s BEAUTIFUL Loop. This is the South side of the trail. To connect to the North side it travels along a neighborhood road at is farthest east end (Wilshire Drive). The North side of this trail is just as pretty, be sure to continue on S Triplet Lake Drive - there is an AWESOME spot to just admire the lake at the crossing of S Triplet Lake and Triplet Lake Drive. Continue on from there to BEAUTIFUL SECRET LAKE PARK - you will be happy you did! Round trip both North & South Trails + Kewannee Trail came to about 22 miles.

East Central Regional Rail Trail

Worth the Drive

March, 2019 by bhapp

My wife and I cycled from the beginning of the trail in Titusville to about 2.5 miles past the I-95 overpass (which is ~10 miles from the start). Total trip for us was only 24 miles but it was our first trip to the trail. We will definitely be back. We parked at the Coast-to-Coast Bike shop in town. There was no signage from there to the trailhead but we were able to ask another cyclist for directions (the bike shop was closed on Sunday!). The first ~8 miles had several road crossings, some with limited views so you have to slow to almost a complete stop to make sure it is safe to cross. At the intersection of the I-95 there is a parking lot. This is a better place to start your ride to avoid the street crossings as it gets rural when heading north/west from there. The trail is excellent, very smooth and flat. There are no rest rooms or benches anywhere along the first 12 miles so plan accordingly. Well worth the drive to get to this trail - this will become a regular spot for our riding!!! Only gave it 4 stars because no restrooms/benches yet and too many street crossings (but way better than riding on the road).

Orlando Urban Trail

Come And Enjoy this Urban Trail And Stops along the way!

February, 2019 by luisalberto_25

Enjoyed my recent ride on this trail. Even though it’s a short trail, there are plenty of spots to simply appreciate the simple beauty of Orlando. Plenty of places to stop for water, and a bite to eat as it will runs parallel and into a grouping of restaurants, grocery chain, and YES a Winery!!! For your next stop be camera ready for many pics or selfies on the bridge over lake Formosa -AMAZING SUNSETS. Be sure to ride around the Science Center too. And follow the trail through a neighborhood by the lake and reach Mead Garden Park! Very Relaxed Very Easy Very Fun Fun Note: for longer rides you can easily connect to Baldwin Park Loop, Cady Way Trail or Maitland Bike Trail

Gaston Edwards Trail

Look at the Map

February, 2019 by yipyipyip27

I decided to bring my dog here after reading the description. It was a nice little walk, however there is no clear start and stop to the trail. It just dead ends at an apartment complex and at a crosswalk. The parking lot is right in the middle of the trail too so we walked to the left, found the dead end and I was confused thinking it must continue somewhere else and we ended up walking through a business center. So we turned around, passed the car, and reached another dead end at the apartment complex. Now looking at the map I realize the trail is actually structured that way, which I find strange. I wish I had looked at the map previously and I would have chosen a more direct walking trail. My dog had fun and we still got our exercise in so the trail served its purpose, just wished I hadn’t been so confused.

Historic Jungle Trail

0rchid Jungle Trail Experience ~ ~ ~

February, 2019 by curtdebutton

Daughter, grandaughter & I (dad) took south turn off #510. Few signs, but found our way. Took left turn heading east over #a1a & short trail to beach. Tide was out, no signs saying we couldn't or could ride - we chose the latter.
Surprised a few walkers, flushed 50+ birds, sand beach was hard enough to support our wide tires. Such a pleasant surprise for a ride we had no knowledge about until we just did it. Would have given 5 stars if signage was a little better & parking areas were available. Found the site today & now we will head north to finish the entire bike hike. "Just do it"! ¿ ¿ ¿
