David S. Ammerman Trail (formerly Clearfield to Grampian Trail)

Sadly, my least favorite trail thus far

October, 2019 by bespo09

This trail fairly close to State College, so thought we would try it out. Yes, there are some scenic sections but also numerous crossings. The grade from Curwensville to Grampian just took the fun out of it for me, but I was determined to reach the end.

Clarion-Little Toby Trail

Nice ride

September, 2019 by jokerjoe21

Parking near the football field in Brockway, I road up to the swinging bridge twice now. Saw multiple deer both times. Nice easy ride. Took my fly rod with me and fished a bit. Caught one brown trout and let him go. I will be back to do the rest of this beautiful trail. Had a nice breakfast at Morelli's then after the ride was over we went for a great steak at The Rocky Grill.

Great Allegheny Passage

Love the trail, but surface could use a little TLC though, many gravely spots for folks with three wheels on the ground.

David S. Ammerman Trail (formerly Clearfield to Grampian Trail)

September 15, 2019 ride

September, 2019 by rpd1

Started at trailhead in Clearfield behind Family Dollar. Rode the 10.5 miles to the end at Grampian. The scenery is mostly wooded areas and 1 farm. You will ride beside mountain stream the last 5 miles. The trail is crushed limestone and wide enough to ride side by side. There are port a johns at mile marker 1.9 and 8.1. If you are going to ride the entire trail, start at Clearfield. The last 4.5 miles are all up hill. When you turn around at Grampian, the first mile is easy peddling and the next 3.5 miles you will coast. The last six are not to hard either. The only problem is at Curwensville is you have to cross 2 roads at a traffic light. I had to look for the trail. Not well marked here. Go straight across the road then turn 90 degrees right across the next road. The best scenery is the last 5 miles up the mountain.

Allegheny River Trail

September 2019 Ride

September, 2019 by vicki1960

Parked in Franklin at the Saltbox visitor center and biked to just South of Brandon and back which is 12.5 miles each way. Nice asphalt pavement the entire way.
At the 12.5 mile marker the asphalt ends. To continue on the trail you have to take a bumpy gravel dirt road for a few miles then the trail does pick up again at the Kennerdell tunnel for more miles of asphalt.
Basically flat trail follows the Allegheny River.
From Franklin the Belmar Bridge is approx 5 miles and go another 3.5 miles for Indian God Rock, on the National Register of Historic places.
There are no services along the trail so take plenty of water and / or snacks.
A nice 25 mile round trip is from Franklin to where the asphalt ends, and back. Franklin PA is mile 0.

Clearview Park Trail

It's a mess.

September, 2019 by stoddardge

Normally trails from rails are great for our disabled son, who walks with some difficulty. Not this one. It was eroded and rutted, making for a very uneven and difficult walk. There is abundant poison ivy on at least one side of the trail for much of its length. And everywhere the trail is overgrown with invasive plant species, honeysuckle and bush honeysuckle, English ivy, Japanese knotweed, etc. The electric company had massacred the trees along the side where the electric lines run. All in all, it was a mess, narrow, pitted, and not pretty. Honestly, the walk down from the top of the trail along the adjacent street was far more enjoyable. We'll never go back to this trail again.

Butler-Freeport Community Trail

August, 2019 by dewing1_tl

Road 8 miles from the trail head in Freeport. Level at first then after about 4 miles slightly uphill. Several washouts that were hard to negotiate and came up with little warning. Nice trail; not busy; everybody i met was friendly. It does need attention in the area i rode

Redbank Valley Rail Trail

Beautiful trail

August, 2019 by donaldhahh9

I road the whole trail yesterday out and back, where the slide was they have made a new trail to go around the sinkholeit drops down to the creek then back up to the trail. Road up the spur trail for 5 miles but it was very soft after the rain and up hill so we turned around and headed back down to main trail which is in great condition, and the two tunnels are very cool, need a light or you have to walk thru them

Rode from Cumberland to Frostburg and back. Uphill climb to Frostburg but reasonable, not strenuous. Easy downhill return to Cumberland. Excellent trail conditions. Beautiful scenery. One tunnel.
